OF

F R E E M A S O N R Y

This auction is for an original 1869 edition of "CYCLOPEDIA AND DICTIONARY OF FREEMASONRY" by the great American Masonic historian and jurist, Robert Macoy.

YOU'LL LOVE THIS BOOK!!!

With this book a great body of INFORMATION CAME OUT OF HIDING!!!

"OF ALL THE INSTITUTIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPROVING THE CONDITION OF MANKIND, FREEMASONRY STANDS PRE-EMINENT IN USEFULNESS AS IT IS IN AGE."

This is truly a splendid contribution to Masonic Literature, and bears the impress of sedulous research, and great ability. The name of Brother Macoy, is widely and favorably known, as a Masonic author, but in this compilation he has surpassed his previous efforts, and produced a work which must find a place in the library of every intelligent Mason.

The information it contains, embraces such a vast area of rare and curious knowledge, that a review, however copious, could give but a faint idea of its Masonic value. We shall, therefore content ourselves by stating that this great work must be considered as the text book of the Craft, and its interest to Masonic students is enhanced by the fact , that upwards of 300 choice engravings are interspersed throughout the 700 pages of the work.  This book is an "intellectual treat."

It furnishes so many Masonic subjects that it brought a keener vision to the Freemasons self-imposed tasks of historic proportions. There is no Society so widely known, and yet really so little known, as that of the Free and Accepted Masons. Even many of the members of that Ancient and Honorable Fraternity are strangely uninformed respecting its eventful past. This encyclopedia aided in the formation of sound Masonic thought, the spread of Masonic light, and the inspiration of Masonic brethren. Dealing critically and impartially with the traditions, customs, records, degrees and ceremonies of the Brotherhood, it contains the actual history of the Craft, extending over a period of some six centuries, and that of its grand structures. Myth here gives up its underlying truth. Research clears away the rubbish, and discloses the sure foundations and majestic arches of a noble structure.

The numerous and BEAUTIFUL ENGRAVINGS!!! which adorn this work bear testimony to the earnest desire of the Publishers to spare no effort or expense necessary to the production of a book which should prove in every way satisfactory to those interested in the subject treated.
