Fantastic, Original & Elegant Antique Victorian

Champagne Coloured Embroidered Cape

This amazing Victorian cape is absolutely beautiful.

It is a summer weight cloak and is made from a very soft champagne coloured cotton it is lined with a cream cotton material

What really makes it so striking is the fantastic is the stunning pale green embroidery.

The pattern, which has hints of paisley about it, features stylized flowers and leaves, the centres of which are highlighted by satin panels.

It's a very appealing design.

The cloak has two tiers and a collar.

It doesn't have any fasteners and doesn't actually look as if it had any and was more likely to have been fastened with a pin - in fact there is a repair on one side where a pin seems likely to have torn the fabric.

It is very well made and must have been expensive when new, which is why some of the moth holes and were and tear have been very carefully repaired during the Victorian era.

It is quite long, measuring approximately 100cms long.

It is a short sided cape, so it is designed to hang by the shoulders, rather than wrap completely round.

Ideal for Whitby / Cosplay / Reenactment

CONDITION REPORT

In generally good condition given the age.

There are a number of small moth holes - a collection of them in one corner. The lining is in good condition but is a little grubby. The embroidery is in good condition.
