This is a 1971 Eighth impression Hardback book in remarkably good condition complete with pictorial dust cover also in very good condition. There is a very slight bump to the top of the cover. Internally it is tight, bright and clean of any markings. Not an ex library copy.
In this book which was written between the writing of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings we  see shadows of what's to come more so than in
Smith of Wooten Major,  there being in Farmer Giles of Ham a country called "The Middle Kingdom" and humanity living uncomfortably side by side with the likes of dragons and giants. Farmer Giles is also a funny story, showcasing Tolkien's sense of humor in a way that we only see hints of in other books. Good stuff.Highly recommended
