Up for Sale is a
1961 Fender Duo - Sonic!
Pre CBS! Slab Board! Made In USA!
You are looking at a really cool vintage guitar. A 1961 Fender Duo - Sonic. This was a student model guitar aimed at all the teenagers discovering Rock & Roll. Their ad campaign was "Like Pro, Like Student." The Duo - Sonic was set up just like the Strats with the slab board fretboards. They only did this for one year 1961, which this one is. 22.5" scale length makes this really easy to play. Light and maneuverable.
This guitar is not all original. The neck and body are original. Most everything else has been changed. Electronics, pickups, switches, knobs, tuners etc. have been replaced with modern equivalents. The body has been sanded down and refinished. The color is correct; Desert sand. The refinish job is not as good as it should be. There are sand marks under the paint that are still visible. Could have been done better but at least it is not all scratched up.
This is really fun to play. The weight is only 6.45 lbs. The shorter scale makes this a blast for soloing. The neck is my favorite part of this AXE. The neck is all original with the slab rosewood fretboard. This fender is the proverbial wolf in sheepsclothing. I played this at my band rehearsal and just blew everyone away. This is an affordable Vintage guitar.
This can be your chance to get a vintage Fender Duo - Sonic at a great price!
I am starting this Auction at .99 with no reserve, so bid strong and bid often. Stay with this to the end. Don't let someone swoop in and buy this item out from underneath you in the last few minutes of the auction.
Serial Number: #73384
Cosmetics: Good Condition. Because the body has been refinished there are very few surface scratches. There are however, sand marks from stripping the body and there are many imperfections in the wood that show through the paint. Minor dings and dents. (See picture #1 #4). There is a 3 inch long crack at the base of the guitar. (See picture #1). Our luthier shot some glue into it and while it still shows cosmetically, it is a solid repair. Neck and headstock has some minor light scratches. (See picture #6, #8, #9). Rosewood fretboard in great shape. Overall good condition. Bear in mind that this is a 53 year old vintage guitar that has been played. It is used. NOT perfect. The refinishing job is Ok not great. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
All functions work as they should.
Bid on it like you want to own it!
