My  Findings:

A few years ago (early 2010)  I established a line of communication with the Korean university who designed / manufactured this seven part shaft, and later got my hands on a few T3s there was no turning back. The difference in hitting distance was clear, and much better players than I also advised of unsurpassed accuracy. 

FineOneGolf had solved the age old problem of how to increase a shaft's operative bend from approximately one third to two thirds of full shaft length without causing excessive whippiness / uncontrolability. Indeed their shafts were more stable than conventional tubular shafts. More opening up of the shaft's quiet parts = more energy return = more distance. Simple. The company secured world patents on the manufacturing process so all the other companies can do is look on admiriningly and continue to puff out hot air in order to sell their obsolete wares.

With a conventional tubular shaft a good player is unwittingly aware of the shaft's 'hard spot.' That is the point on the shaft where it stops flexing. He / she is consciously unaware of this though, having swung nothing else. This hard spot disappears with seven part shafts as they continue to give and open up as far as the player pushes them. Players try to interpret this new feeling and usually blurt out that the shaft is "too whippy." Third party observation however reveals that usually the T3 is flexing less than their old shaft. Less, but much further along its full length. It's simply a new feeling to get used to, and this quickly happens.  When a player is correctly fitted to a T3, and is swinging well, he will often feel a slight twitch / kick of the shaft inches before the head impacts the ball. Nothing more dramatic.

What are the downsides?

I have built demo. drivers for virtually every model of T3 which I sell, and so consider myself to be well versed in how each model performs.  They all perform equally well and if one is possibly lying between flexes - one flex will only be around three yards shorter on driving distance than one's optimum flex.  If in doubt - buy the stiffer model.

The T3's Achilees heel was, a few years back, its paint finish. This has however now been massively improved and the new black / gold shafts now generally have an excellent finish. The silver 'Regular' shafts perform equally as well as other stiffnesses but are sold subject  to minor  paint imperfections.

The component price is relatively high. But, bearing in mind the enormous amount of work which goes into the manufacture of each one, arguably ridiculously cheap. Particularly as FineOneGolf hold the monopoly on ultimate distance shafts.

Purchase: Bought from UK Distributer and main supplier. Previously tested an ex demo driver with same shaft.

Pros: Performance, distance, consistency of the shaft compared to others.

Cons: nothing.

Quality: Constructed with segmented shaft technology. 'Bamboo' look effect. High end Korean product that has had great reviews. Big on the long drive circuit.

Review Summary: As A registered clubmaker,The need to keep updated with the latest technology can sometimes become a grind. Every now and then a product comes along which makes you take notice. Enter the FineOneGolf T3 Shaft. Golfing theories on shafts are blown away by the appearance of this shaft.It is 'Bamboo' like in looks with the patented segmented shaft technology.Without trying to over hype the product,If a shaft with an 'Active' kick is what you are after then look no further!! I have always opted for lower torque shafts in my drivers,Normally around the 2.5 to 3.0 range.The T3 comes in at 3.7 degrees of torque. Now if you think a shaft with a higher torque rating would offer less stability through impact join the club!! In Fact I was actually amazed at the performance of this shaft and just how stable it is. Very little dispersion with great directional stability. The segmented shaft provides the consitency of a much lower torque rated shaft. One thing to note is that the shaft does feel slightly more 'whippy' than the actual recommended swing speed ratings advertised. The theorists amongst you would expect that with a segmented shaft of course. Myself, I feared the shaft under pressure would succumb to my bad shot (The snapping hook).The truth is in fact,This shaft is the most stable I have ever played bar none.The claim that the shaft reduces rotational twist seems to be justified. However a shaft needs to perform on distance to make a mark these days.The T3 is big news on the long drive market now.Therefore I wanted to try it out big time!!.I needed to compare the shaft with a couple of favourites of mine to see if it 'squared' up. Well it didnt just 'square' up it beat my other 2 shafts (Harrison pro 2.5 and Mitsubishi Diamana red board) into submission! With my average swingspeed of 103mph I should be able to get it out to the 270-275 yard range.I can do this with the other 2 shafts mentioned. With the T3 Shafted into a Japan Mactec 9.5 loft 435cc head (weighted at 202 grammes)I am pushing the 300 yard mark! Armed with the latest GPS device (Well my mates actually) I took the 3 drivers out in my bag over 3 days. I quickly realised the T3 is a shaft you don't need to 'Get after' and concentrated on tempo. The most pleasing drive with it was 294 yards uphill into driving rain on long par 4. I averaged 15 and 19 yards longer than my other 2 drivers with the T3 in play. This shafts is serious fun. However make sure you get the right specification to suit,My suggestion is speak to your supplier and provide as much information as you can, i.e swingspeed, ball flight, tempo,average carry, etc,etc. The numbers on the shaft are somewhat confusing.I opted for the W6-050-07 shaft as opposed to the W5-070-07 shaft. (see what I mean) Basically a stiff 72 gramme!!!! But that is my only gripe. I love this shaft,It kicks like a mule!!! and accurate too! Its just a pity they dont make putter shafts!!!!!!
