Selling on behalf of my daughter who doesn't use the car anymore, lost interest in it, can't afford the insurance.
The car developed a fault some time ago, the transmission light on the dash started flashing and went into limp mode (2000 rpm max, 50 mph max). Had the car diagnosed at various places, all said no faults showing or logged on the ECU. Forum sites said there is a problem with the automatic transmission......but......the car is a manual, so we took the car to a Ford main agent.
Three days later they report, because the battery had gone flat at some time and had been jump started that it had spiked the ECU. It also required 2 fuel injectors and the fuel pump was faulty.......so that will be £2500 please plus coding of the keys........I replied "Your 'aving a larf mate,.... give me the car back".
The ECU, instruments and keys were sent to BBA Reman in Gillingham for diagnostics.........they reported no faults whatsoever.
The ECU and instruments were refitted, and hey presto, the car ran fine for a short while, then the engine management light came on. I replaced 2 fuel injectors, (cylinders 2 & 3), the management light went away but has now come back on, so maybe the other 2 injectors need replacing.
The car drives fine, revs freely, (see pic 8 showing 3000 rpm), and easily achieves 45-50 mpg in general driving, probably more on a run. The engine is a little lumpy at idle so probably does need the other two injectors replacing. (Cylinders 1 & 4). These can be bought for approx £100 each from a reputable breakers with a warranty, or less if you want to take a risk and buy private from "fleabay".
The car is clean, tidy, very presentable, has nearly new Uniroyal Rainsport 2 tyres at the front, the rears are serviceable, I have a brand new spare tyre if required. The windscreen was replaced late last year, so there are no cracks or chips in it. Everything works as it should except the engine management light is on. I no longer have the time or space to rectify what I think is minor problem. So someone could end up with a very good car for little money.
