Irish Red and White Setter Flushing a Pheasant
This is a unique painting of an Irish Red and White Setter putting a Pheasant to flight in an autumnal woodland setting.
The painting in oils on canvas by an artist signing in an indistinct manner is probably late 19th or early 20th Century.
The signature could be interpreted as Edward or Edmund Pott or Pett or Scott or maybe Folt or even Felt. The signature is unclear but I have included photographs of the signature to allow personal interpretation.
The painting measures within the frame 400 x 300 mm.
The texture and vivid colours make this a desirable painting for the owners of the breed or those with an interest in dogs, countryside pursuits or game birds.
The painting has been in my possession for over 20 years, having been acquired at a 'house sale' in the late 1980's.
