I had several SLR film cameras when I was younger, but family matters put them financially out of reach. Bought a good compact digital a few years ago and really enjoyed getting back into photography again, without the expense of film to develop but found the compact a bit limiting on the creative side. Did a fair bit of research - looked at Nikon, Canon, Lumix and Fuji. My son then bought a Fuji bridge camera, and I was very impressed with it. I compared the various brands and the available features within my budget, eventually deciding that a tiny drop in quality at the extreme edge of the cameras performance was more than offset by the large amount of extra features and capabilities, not to mention the excellent price. I found in practice that unless I'm zooming minutely into images or blowing them up on a huge screen, the reported flaws (which in themselves are tiny) cannot be seen. If size is important, perhaps consider the competition - although when quick shots are key I'm more likely to use a compact. The double exposure setting works very well, as does the panoramic software built into the camera - it stitches all the frames together into a wide view even giving a full 360 degrees. This camera is as flexible as the user wants it to be - fully automatic in a range of different modes including a memory for user settings. Pop up flash and a hot-shoe, and on the front of the lens a 58mm thread so filters can be used. Lithium battery with fairly good stamina and takes SD cards up to 64Gb. All round a fantastic camera. I love it!Read full review
Brilliant piece of kit so far. Because of the weather haven't had the opportunity to give it a good run through. The photo's we have taken have been of excellent quality and proved simple to take in auto mode, will try out the advanced features later. We have a compact 5MP Konica which has served very well over the years but my wife hogged that and our second camera (HP compact) broke. So time had come for a new one. We wanted to move up a notch but within a limited budget. The main attraction was the high zoom level and the price. One word of warning here, beware import duty if it comes in from HK etc. It wasn't high but could tip the balance if you are comparing prices. All in all we are pleased with this purchase and hope it lives up to it's promises and our expectations. Will post again if it doesn't Have only given an overall rating of 4* as it hasn't been properly tried yetRead full review
An excellent piece of kit for the avid amateur photographer. It has everything you would expect from a top range compact to the low range DSLR. It is great for most of your needs with the exception that its slowest shutter speed is 30 seconds so you can forget painting with light or obtaining star trails. However for most everyday use it does the job perfectly. It offers excellent versatility with its 30X optical zoom and its movable screen allows you to shoot over the heads of the crowd, especially if you are short like me :D. Overall an excellent hybrid camera, especially if you are on a budget or think that you do not need a DSLR but prefer something better than a compact.
I wanted to go the next step from point and shoot photography. SLR's were much too complicated, with too much faffing around, for me. This product is ideal - nearly all the benefit of an SLR, but without the complications. Best buy I have made in a long time. Simple to use(once you have played around with the menu's a bit), from fully automatic to being able to custom set all the parameters. Takes great pictures. There is nothing I dislike about this product. And, all for just over £200.00, bargain!
I recently purchased this camera to replace a small digital that I took to China when visiting my son who is teaching English there. Unfortunately my wife tripped and 'wrote off' this camera. Not being in any way a photographer of anything like professional standard I required an easy to use product. When I first received the item I thought 'My God what have I done' The contained instructions were very basic and it was not until I printed off the 'online full instructions' (what a chore) and could then practice a little with it that I began to feel I had in fact purchased exactly what I wanted. ie A good sturdy camara I could quickly switch on, obtain a quick automatic focus and shoot a very acceptable photo with very little effort.
