The funds raised so far have been enough to train and equip 60 new beach lifeguards for beaches around the UK so a huge thank you for all your support!

Glyn Macey, one of the U.K.'s most well known contemporary artists, has auctioned 180 of his works in a bid to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The artist, who has gained a national and international reputation for paintings of the harbours, moorland and coast of his native Cornwall, auctioned 180 of his original studies on the on-line auction site eBay, with half the proceeds being donated directly to the RNLI. A new painting was auctioned each weekday, with each auction lasting one week.
The decision to donate half of the proceeds to the RNLI came from Glyn's love of England's breathtaking but sometimes deadly coastline. "I'm lucky enough to be able to spend much of my time exploring this wonderful landscape," says the artist, "but I'm always aware of the potential dangers. The weather changes minute to minute here, and it's all too easy to find yourself in an exposed location with the waves whipping up. The volunteers of the RNLI show extraordinary courage in saving lives each year."

The RNLI has saved more than 137,000 lives since it was founded in 1824, with more than 8,000 people rescued last year alone.

To find out more about Glyn and the RNLI simply follow the links from the 'about me' section!

Feel free to ask questions, I will do my best to respond same day except weekends. I'm usually on the beach then!
