Covert Chod Hooks
Next generation specialist chod/stiff link hook.
It has to be said, the Chod Hook was not the easiest project we've ever embarked on; to design the perfect hook for Chod and Stiff Link style rigs requires an in-depth understanding of exactly how these rigs work and an awful lot of field testing, fine tuning, retesting...it's partly science and research, and partly sheer inspiration and creative flair.
Fortunately the Gardner Team is blessed with some extremely ingenious anglers, past masters in the art of these styles of rig right, the original innovators of the key hook section on the Hinged Stiff Link, that later came to be known as the Chod rig (as it is popularly called today).
So what makes the ideal Chod Hook?
The quality of the hook point is essential. For maximising the effectiveness of any modern specialist rig, the Chod Hook needs a phenomenally sharp, long straight point, precisely etched onto an extra strong forged and tempered high carbon steel wire.
It needs all of that, without compromising one bit on the power and strength of the hook as it is made - Chod Hooks need to be strong to cope with big hard fighting carp...and that's exactly what they are!
The pattern features a wide gape, non reversed bend and medium length shank, with a well formed 15 degree out-turned eye that ensures that materials like Trip Wire and fluorocarbons exit the inside of the eye at the optimum angle, encouraging the hook to turn aggressively with a whipping style No-knot and Dumhoff knot or when combined with specialist rigs such as the Multi Rig and D-rigs.
The out-turned eye effectively reduces unnecessary kinking on monofilament-type hooklinks that may reduce their performance.
The medium length shank is angled slightly in, towards the hook point, which is a critical attribute in providing the strongest possible hook holds, giving you total confidence when you are playing the carp of a lifetime.
Whilst we can't divulge too much about how and why we came to these conclusions during the development of the Chod Hook, we can safely say that this is pretty much the key secret as to why it is fast becoming THE pattern of choice for this new and exciting style of fishing.
Available in Sizes 4, 5, 6 and 8 in Barbed or Barbless.

Covert Mugga Hooks
Practically a legend for the last decade...
The Mugga offers unrivalled hooking potential when used with a variety of hooklink materials. This pattern has a proven track record for nailing wary feeding fish and then staying in them all the way to the angler's waiting net.
The combination of an inturned eye, non-reversed bend, sweeping shank, strong forged wire and super sharp point has established the Mugga as a devastatingly reliable hook.
The Size 12 has now become a firm favourite for use in Zig Rig fishing as an effective means of reducing the number of hook pulls commonly associated with this method.
"Ever since catching a brace of 40's (and a brace of mid-30's the next day) from an extremely weedy bay last year, I have used Mugga hooks with complete confidence and haven't looked back since. The hook holds are unbeatable and I now use Muggas for most of my fishing." Jerry Hammond
"Above all, you need a hook that's going to stay sharp. I've been using the Mugga on my recent adventures on the River Ebro and have never had any problems with this magnificent hook. Reliable? I wouldn't feel confident with anything else after the successes I've had, bless 'em." Ronnie Buss
Used and recommended by top anglers everywhere.
Available in Sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12 in Barbed or Barbless.

Covert Long Shank Mugga Hooks
There is no doubt that lengthening the shank of a hook increases its hooking potential. We have applied this reasoning to the Mugga, incorporating an extra long curved shank, a non-reversed bend and manufactured from our super strong forged Carbon Steel.
The point is fiendishly sharp and stays sharp longer than most other hooks.
Perfect for use with some of the more advanced anti-ejection rigs being used, the hook is ideal for pop-ups in the largest size and for balanced bottom baits in the smaller sizes. A devastatingly effective hook however it is used.
"I've always been a fan of the short shank Mugga and never thought I'd find a better hook but I'm ecstatic to find that the Long Shank Mugga has performed equally as well, if not better - fantastic hooks." Lewis Porter (Associate Editor, Crafty Carper)
"I recently moved over to the Long Shank Mugga Hooks for pop-up rigs and they have definitely converted more pick-ups to fish on the bank - more even than extending hook shanks with shrink tube or similar long shank hooks available on the market." Tim Childs
Available in Sizes 4, 6, 8 and 10 in Barbed or Barbless.

Covert Incizor Hooks
A superbly versatile shape, the Incizor has proven extremely reliable for use in a huge number of angling situations, whether used in the smaller sizes for Zig Rigs or in the other sizes for more conventional rigs for specimen Carp, Tench, Bream, Barbel or Chub, the numbers of huge fish of all species captured on these brilliant hooks is staggering.
The point is durable thanks to double tempering the highest quality Carbon Steel and the non-reversed bend and general dimensions of the Incizor mean this pattern will remain the hook of choice for a great many discerning anglers around the world.
"Does everything that you want a hook to do. Strong, sharp and reliable. A good all round hook that I use for open water and snag fishing in the majority of angling situations." Dave Benton
Available in Sizes 4, 6, 8 and 10 in Barbed or Barbless.

Talon Tip
A particularly useful pattern when fishing over gravel as the pattern is less prone to the point being damaged by touching stones than straight point hooks.
Incredibly strong in all sizes, the chemically etched beaked point and inturned eye design of the Talon Tip, along with a forged off-set bend and micro barb has made this hook the benchmark against which other similar hook patterns should be judged.
Whether being used for huge carp or hard fighting river fish like barbel, this pattern offers unmatched reliability, excellent hooking potential and firm hook holds.
Feedback has also indicated that this hook is fantastic for waters where barbed hooks are banned as the beak point grips and holds extremely well.
"Talon Tips are ideally suited to the stresses and strains of big Barbel fishing but I use these ultra reliable hooks in all kinds of angling situations for big fish where strength is paramount." Neil Wayte
Available in Sizes 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 in Barbed or Barbless.

Wide Gape Talon Tip
Taking this already successful pattern to a new level.
The finely-tuned extended gape of the hook increases the hooking power even more, making it deadly in the modern rigs of today.
Whilst still incorporating the in-turned beaked point to aid hooking and help prevent blunting of the point in gravelly swims, the Wide Gape Talon Tip also features the 5 degree in-turned eye to help pull the hook home securely and keep it safely in position during the fight.
By removing the offset of the original pattern we have improved the hook’s ability to ‘prick’ the instant the hook bait is taken.
Constructed from the same ‘bomb proof’ ultra-strong forged wire of the original so you can be certain that the strength is unparalleled across the size ranges ensuring this hook can confidently be used in the most extreme fishing situations for catching the biggest carp that swim...anywhere.
"I've been genuinely impressed with the Wide Gape Talon Tip, during the field testing that I've done. The T-Tip always was a tough hook for testing conditions, but now, with the extended gape, this pattern is ruthless - carp just don't seem to be able to swim away from them!" Lewis Read
This is the No.1 hook to use for fishing near snags or in weed.
Available in Sizes 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 in Barbed or Barbless.
