This auction is for a Garrard 401 turntable, serial number 35801, fitted with an Acos Lustre (GST-1?) arm and a Shure M75ED Type 2 cartridge. These are mounted on a wooden (mahogany?) plinth which has a brown perspex detachable cover. The original manual and Garrard inspection report are included together with the template and booklet for the arm.
I bought this deck over 20 years ago from a sound engineer and since then it has mostly been in storage. It can be seen and heard working in SE London and sounds remarkably impressive even with the modest cartridge and my scratchy vinyl records. As I'm downsizing and going totally digital it now needs a good home home with a vinyl hifi buff who could get it serviced and fit it with a decent cartridge.
I'm not able to take it all delicately to bits and pack it for transportation so the terms of the auction are cash on collection only. I could arrange to deliver within a shortish distance of SE14.
Please ask any questions, though I may not be able to answer anything very technical. Happy bidding!

I've taken extra close-up shots of the arm which I can send by email. The "transcription" deck also plays at 78 rpm!
I'll be on holiday when this auction ends. The winner can pick up the deck from SE14 (cash in hand!) from Sat 10 March.

In response to helpful comments and questions from members and viewers:
There is no Buy It Now price and I will let the auction run to the end. Payment by direct bank transfer cleared in advance of pickup is fine as is cash (sterling).
Viewing in person will no longer be possible after Thursday evening (1 March).
Thanks for the interest.
