~ A collection of 63 photographs of German WW2 Junkers Aircraft ~

A very rare opportunity to own this fine collection of photographs of German Junkers aircraft, including types Ju87, Ju88, Ju188 and 'Mistel'.

This comprehensive collection features 63 original black and white images.

The photographs are from various sources (private albums and official agencies), and seem to be mainly press and publicity shots. Many are copies from originals. The aircraft are depicted in a variety of different situations and scenarios. There are good air-to-air images, others showing technical details including armament modifications, captured examples of the Ju.88 and 188, various aerial arrays, rocket assisted take-off (Bundesarchiv photo) and others of similar interest.

Please see pictures below for images of the collection and representative samples...

~ About the aircraft ~

The Junkers Ju 87 or Stuka (from Sturzkampfflugzeug, "dive bomber") was a two-seat (pilot and rear gunner) German ground-attack aircraft. The Stuka first flew in 1935 and made its combat debut in 1936 as part of the Luftwaffe'sCondor Legion during the Spanish Civil War.

The aircraft was easily recognizable by its inverted gull wings, fixed spatted undercarriage and its infamous Jericho-Trompete ("Jericho Trumpet") wailing siren, becoming the propaganda symbol of German air power and the Blitzkrieg victories of 1939–1942. The Stuka's design included several innovative features, and although sturdy, accurate, and very effective, the Ju 87 was vulnerable to modern fighter aircraft, like many other dive bombers of the war.

The Junkers Ju 88 was a World War II German Luftwaffe twin-engine, multi-role aircraft. Designed in the mid-1930s, it suffered from a number of technical problems during the later stages of its development and early operational roles, but became one of the most versatile combat aircraft of the war. Affectionately known as "The Maid of all Work" (a feminine version of "jack of all trades"), the Ju 88 proved to be suited to almost any role.

The Junkers Ju 188 was a German Luftwaffe high-performance medium bomber built during WWII, the planned follow-on to the famed Ju88 with better performance and payload. It was produced only in limited numbers, due both to the presence of improved versions of the Ju 88, as well as the deteriorating war condition and the resulting focus on fighter production.

~ Photo Dimensions ~

The photographs range in size from 22cm x 16cm to 6cm x 10cm, and include a variety of formats.

The majority are approx. 15cm x 10cm.

~ Condition ~

The photos are in good condition, with subject matter clearly depicted, however a significant number feature some form of slight impairment such as ink seeping through from the back, slight wear and tear or various other forms of (slight) surface damage. Many are trimmed.
