Gibsea 84

Length (feet):

Jason - A Gibsea 84 sailing boat (8.4 metres long -29ft).  French built to a very strong specification currently moored 10miles from Athens (Greece)

We bought Jason five years ago from Sailing Holidays.com and have loved every holiday we have spent on her. For an ex charter boat she has been really well looked after and for her age she is in excellent condition.

She has two cabins, both with double berths and two singles in the salon.  Jason is easily handled by two people with roller reefing genoa and in mast furling main.  We fitted an 80 watt solar panel which keeps the fridge cold and a tiller pilot so you can relax on longer trips.

The engine is a Volvo Penta 2002, 18hp.  Whilst under charter with Sailing Holidays their engineers routinely serviced the engine ensuring it was kept in top condition.  I have continued this routine ensuring the engine is serviced and winterised every year.  The engine has never missed a beat and cruises easily at 5knots for 1 litre/hour.  There is a full tool kit on board and spare filters, belts etc

She has holding tanks for the brown water and a hot water outdoor shower on the swimming platform.  Flexible water tanks store 250litres and a 100litre diesel tank.

There is a large cockpit locker which swallows all the ropes, fishing gear and inflatable dinghy and we fitted an 8 man life raft in an on deck canister.

The only downside is the eclectic anchor windlass broke on the last day of our holiday.  I have brought this back to the UK to fix so will need refitting which is supper simple.

My girlfriend and I spent four months on her last year.  I'm a big fella and never felt cramped for space, plus we didn't have any problems storing clothes and equipment as there are lots of lockers etc.  It was a trip of a lifetime, from Corfu around the Ionian, through the Corinth Canal and onto Athens, swimming in tranquil bays, BBQ on beaches and mooring right outside local Tavernas.   The boat is incredibly safe, she took us through some uncomfortable conditions and we always felt secure.  Her sail plan enables easy reefing and she is well balanced.

Jason is cheap to run and to store. Whilst sailing last year we didn't pay any mooring fees and she is just the right size to always get a quayside mooring or anchor on a deserted beach.  She is currently out of the water at a professional boat yard on Aegina, just 20mins from Athens.  The storage cost is 100 euros a month and this is paid up until May 2014 (so the winning bidder has nothing to pay till their first holiday)

If you want to view Jason cheap flights are available to Athens and Ferries run to Aegina every hour the boat yard has a key and I can talk you through it by phone.  Or instead of flying to Greece do as we did and find a Gibsea 84 for sale in the UK and check that one out, I guarantee you won't be disappointed when you see Jason.  I have the survey from when we bought her should any perspective buyers wish to see it.

The only reason we are selling Jason is for a deposit on our first house otherwise we would both continue to spend every holiday on her.
