Ian McKellan stars as the legendary Dudley born film difector James Whale with Brendan Fraser as an imagined character based on real figures in Whales' latter life. It tells the tale, based on the horror director's actual final days, of his physical and mental pain & anguish leading up to his tragic death. Beautifully acted out by McKellan, with characters from his famous Universal 'Frankenstein' series of films making appearances in interesting filmmaking scenes. A must see for film makers and film fans equally. JDS

Great film great actors- Hugely enjoyable what I call a B O A T S- based on a true story. It is basically a three hander and found it very engrossing. Added it to my collection and will watch it again. Well done Ian Mckellan, Brendan Frass and Lynn Redgrave. The direction and writing by Bill Brandon and in the writing Christopher Bram (who wrote the original novel) were of the highest standard. Watch and enjoy.
