I bought this phone for its size, capabilities and design. In my view, if you don't mind your phones being big, the HTC Desire HD is the best smartphone on the market right now. A great screen, good design, and loads of features that combine to make this one of the best smart phone's i have owned. I like the big screen and fast graphics especially when i play my fav game pool! On its enormous 4.3 inch screen, it gets you better view to your videos and photos, apart from reading text especially on line. The design is lovable, beautifully clean and simple front. The volume control, which is a low down, i had to replace it within weeks of buying this phone!. It is hard to tell when it is already pressed! The screen lock and power button also is hard to get due to its location, something hard to do single handedly. I love the 8mg camera and the stereo jack ports, good for me as i like listening music in my car, if you please get the power amp app from the app centre and this will change your in car music experience. A rather more significant addition HTC has made is seen when editing text. Hold your finger down over the text and, just like on the iPhone, a magnified area pops up allowing you to more easily see where you're placing the cursor. Release your finger and you get Select and Select All options for highlighting text for copying and pasting. But i still miss the scrolling button of the wildfire. My overall verdict? I love his phone and i don't think i will be buying another model in near future. Having that said, technology is evolving at a very fast rate and if the cost of buying a new smart phone keeps on being ridiculously high...... i will keep my HTC HD Desire.Read full review
I upgraded from a Motorola Defy and apart from the ability to 'taka a dunking' I haven't been disappointed. The processor is slick and has handled all the apps that I've downloaded so far. The 4.3" sceeen is a joy and the battery life was improved by a £6 upgrade from ebay, with light use it will last 2 days. As a bonus HTC gave an OTA upgrade to android 2.3 and I hear that they may offer a further upgrade to 4.1. Only complaint is the on/off button which is a bit awkward, especially behind a silicon case. Otherwise a good rival to the i-phone/galaxy brigade and half the price!
I have recommended this phone to people who are scared of smartphones. It's simple and clear in operation with some lovely 'nice touches' (like the animated weather when you turn on). The menus, buttons, and the permanent 'back', 'home', and 'menu' buttons make life simpler. I still use mine even though I've got a newer generation HTC which has lost some of the charm and simplicity.

I was having the HTC DESIRE S, was one a fantastic phone and i bought the DESIRE HD because have the same specs but bigger screen. 4.3 for 3.7 It had 1 GHz Processor and 768 MB RAM. IS fast accurate reliable and HTC Also is get microsd, had a good *MP camera And was cheap and in very good condition for a 20month used phone
This is a fantastic phone, simple to get the hang of and very stylish, the camera is great both for stills and videos and sounds quality is great. However it drinks battery life remorselessly, dont leave home without a charger if you plan to use it a lot during a day. aside from that, totally worth taking a look at this phone
