About Grading and Recycled Phones

Buying a recycled mobile phone is a great way to save money while still getting a great phone. It is important to remember however that you are buying a refurbished or recycled mobile phone. This means the phone is not new and will have some signs of wear, although all phones are in full working order. We test and clean each phone and make at least 2 phone calls to ensure call quality is suitable.

Grading Mobile Phones

We Grade our Phones using common standards into the following groups:
Grade A While clearly a used device the phone will be in Excellent cosmetic condition. The front and rear housing will show little or no sign of wear, with only very minor scratches or marks and no cracks present.

One would look at such a phone and think “its owner really loved of this thing” or “this phone is almost new”.

Grade B+  Indicates the phone is in Very Good condition but not quite an A. Often it’s just one small scratch too many, or in the wrong spot. It will have had minimal use and may have a very few minor hairline scratches or very light scuff marks and has been very well cared for by its previous owner.

One would look at such a phone and say “It’s almost an A grade, if not for that small mark”.

Grade B Indicates the phone will be in Good overall condition. The front and rear housing will show some signs of wear and may have some scratches and worn spots present from general day to day use rather than any significant damage. The screen will be clear or mostly clear.

One would look at such a phone an think “its owner took good care of this – or didn’t use it much”.

Grade C+ This grade is for a mobile that while clearly well used is in Good condition, but will have some spots that are just a bit “too” worn for a B Grade. This may mean the front or rear housing will have clear signs of usage and will have more evident scratches or scuffs. Edges may have some finish worn off. The phone may have a more worn back but the screen is very clear. Often a case hides most of the wear.

C+ phones are often considered the best balance between value and condition.

Grade C

Indicates the phone will be in Average or worn/poor cosmetic condition although still in full working order. The phone will show signs of prolonged day-to-day usage resulting in significant wear and will have scratches, cracks, scuffs and chips or finish rubbed off the corners but these can usually be hidden with a case. The screen may have dust underneath or noticeable hairline scratches and scuffs but will be legible and should be crack free. Usually the keys are all legible but some evidence of use is evident.

One would look at such a phone and think “this is a well used phone, but with a cover it will look fine”

Our Buy-it-Now phones are often part of multiple item listings and as such we are not able to include photos of the actual phone you will receive. If you have any questions please contact us before buying as we may be able to help you with additional details or even a photo or two. These phones are covered by both our 14 day warranty against defect and our “no-Quibble” satisfaction warranty. Please check it is functioning correctly within 3 working days of receipt. Any transit damage or visible faults must be reported within this time frame for a replacement or refund. If your phone arrived damaged or inoperable we will replace the phone or provide a full refund including the postage. You can still return your item at your own cost (if you are simply unhappy with it) within the first 14 days of you receiving it. All items must be returned unused in their original packaging, with full box & its contents (e.g. phone, battery, charger & adaptors, pc cable, leather case/pouch, user manuals, CD software, interior packing case, box, memory card, etc) and in a resalable condition. All returns must be pre-authorised. Please contact us via eBay email with the reason for your return. We will then email you a return address to send the item back. This is to help us to track the returns and apply the credits to the correct purchase (ie: yours). All returns must be received to us within 7 days of us authorising a return for the item. Please note that if the returned goods are not in the same condition as they were sent out then a reduction in value will need to be applied to the returned item. We will calculate this by looking at what the item can be resold for and inform you via email. We strongly advise you to return the phone via recorded delivery. If the phone is worth more than £50 please send by Special Delivery. If in the unlikely event the phone is lost or damaged in transit we cannot issue a refund or replacement. Please ensure the phone is packaged properly for the return post and please include a note with the ebay number and your ebay ID. The Customer will bear the cost of returning the item and we do not accept or cannot be held liable for lost or damaged items whilst in transit to us. Handsets that have been returned to us under the 14 day defect warranty will undergo a full diagnostic test prior to any decision being made for refunds/replacements. If you return an item not found to be faulty we will contact you to arrange redelivery. We may in some instances, at our discretion, issue a refund for the original price excluding an amount for shipping at cost. If the item is found to be faulty and we cannot replace the phone a refund will be issued for the full original amount paid including shipping and will be made via the original payment method.
