This is an obsolete Handspring PDA. It uses regular tripple A batteries with a finite life. It fits my needs because it's black and white display is very readable outdoors. Apps are simple and fast. I have used Handspring PDAs for 20 years. it just works...

I dropped my original Handspring Visor in the driveway and ran over it. Screen is destroyed, but it still functioned. I was looking for a replacement, and found many on ebay. This is a good way for me to keep all of my addresses/phone/emails in several locations (Work and home PC's, Laptop, and PDA). I can also load games for the kids. I am sure there are probably newer and better PDA's out there, but for the dollar, these older Hnadsrpings serve their purpose efficiently and without glitches. I have looked at newer PDA's, but for the basic purpose that I use them for, I had a hard time justifiying cost to benefit ratio. The Visor and other models of Handspring will serve well.
I love these old PDA's. You can get them real cheap, they run for weeks on regular AAA batteries, and they are well built. They are great for storing phones numbers, addresses, memos, etc. You can still buy new parts for them too. These Visors are perfect for anyone who just needs a little help remembering stuff and doesn't want or need the latest and greatest tech.
For me, this is a great handheld computer. It does just what I need and that's keep appointments; contacts; to do lists and can also expand to do other things which I haven't investigated yet. This is my third Palm Handspring Visor. I try to replace Palms for Palms because of the software and compying compatibility . It's a great simple handheld for what I need. I love it.
The Visor is great if all you are looking for is basic needs. If you're looking for a machine that does a great sorting job without much fiddling this is just the ticket. Windows 98 and Windows NT were around when it came out in 1999,so it was made to be compatible with those.Windows XP is NT-based,so the Visor is compatible with it,too. It can make its way around programs that arent compatible, like Vista and above because it uses apps...they refer to theirs as "Springboards".Buy a springboard backup...voila,you've replaced HotSynch. There are springboard games, too. They dont make parts for it anymore, because Palm was bought by HP and dismantled, but theyre easy to find.
