Having been aware of visiting hedgehogs, and their plight in regards to their alarming drop in numbers, I am keen to do my bit to help them. I already ensure they have access to water, and they also pick around under the area I feed the birds. I have greedy cats so haven't been able to put food out for them so this Hoghouse will give me the opportunity to do that whilst also giving them somewhere to shelter if they choose to. It is lightweight (which might not suit everybody) but as it should be situated somewhere sheltered anyway, shouldn't be a problem. I have been able to site it in a secluded area. Popping food in is a little challenging but not impossible, and I haven't seen my cats making any attempt to get into it. I preferred it's more natural look to some of the others available, and the waterproofing is an added welcome feature. Not sure whether it's being used yet but my attitude is that it's there if wanted but I'm not going to loose sleep if it doesn't attract any house guests. Time will tell.Read full review

The hedgehog house would have been better if it had a detachable floor so that leaves and straw etc could be placed inside it prior to positioning under bushes.

The hogitat makes for an attractive garden shelter for hibernating hedgehogs and for females about to produce their litter of hoglets. We have two of these hogitats in our garden and they are used by our garden hedgehogs for reasons mentioned above. Even though the hogitat is quite sturdy it really needs to be staked down from the outside as I've seen adult hogs emerge from it, not from the entrance, but by nudging under the side or back of the hogitat. A large hog can cause it to move quite substantially. The best location for it is partially hidden under shrubbery, staked down either side and then surrounded by logs. This then provides the shade, security and protection that hedgehogs seek. The inside edge of the entrance to the hogitat needs improvement as it is roughly finished with sharp wire and mesh which can injure hoglets. It is easy enough to cut the loose wire or bend it over, but this really should not be necessary if it was finished properly. Overall, it blends in well in the garden and provides a good, temporary shelter for breeding or hibernating hogs.Read full review

What a great product! We bought it because we have a regular hedgehog visitor, who polishes off unwanted cat-food left by our fussy cat. I put the home out in a sheltered area, by our back door, full of straw. I was thinking he or she would take a while to use it, but after a belly-full of food, he waddled straight into it and bedded down for the night! Since then, he or she has visited every day, at around 9pm, and settled down after a good meal! Thumbs up from us, and the hedgehog, then!

One of my dogs has frightened my semi resident hedgehog so l'm hoping this residence will help him come back and settle down. By winter it will be a cosy home so fingers crossed the lovely Hogitat is appreciated by the intended recipient/s. It also looks superb tucked into low growing shrubs. Frogitat and Road Hall next!
