Seller notes: The carved woodwork near the melody keys is broken in one area, and a small length of the leather strap holding the bellows together at the rear has snapped off. One of the pearlescent buttons covering the chord keys is missing. The instrument could do with a general overhaul, but still plays in its present condition.
Type: Accordion Brand: Koch
Sub-Type: Button
For sale is a Koch / Hohner two row A/D melodeon, also known as a diatonic button accordion

Main Features:
  • Dates from the late 1920's/early 1930's; the Koch company was acquired by Hohner around the time this melodeon was made.
  • In beautiful original condition, with no obvious restoration.
  • Wood is embellished with an intricate two-tone pokerwork pattern.
  • Front opens easily to gain access to levers. Panel is carved wood with a metal grille, held on securely by rotating pin heads.
  • Label on side which reads "Voces de Acero"
  • Top row of buttons play in D major, the bottom row play in A major.
  • One of the chord buttons is missing its mother-of-pearl cover.
  • Notes and chords play correctly as far as we can tell, but may require fine tuning to concert pitch. (The item has been tested by a musician, but not a melodeon player)
  • There is a leather strap on front to hold bellows together, but the rear strap has partially snapped off.
  • Dimensions: (L) 33cm x (W) 28cm x (H) 14cm
  • Ideal as an ongoing restoration project, as the instrument can be given as much or as little attention as you see fit!
