Honda CR 500 supermoto, this bike started its life as a 96 CR 500 motorcross bike, i have a wallet full of receipts and bills with the bike including its original bill of sale when it was purchased from new. In 2007 the bike was road registered the bike was then placed on the road for less then 3 months and then garaged until early this year. I purchased the bike from its 2nd owner from new and after countless man hours i have turned it into the bike it is today. the bike has had no expense spared and the spec is as follows.
full strip down and rebuild in 07 (30 hrs use, since rebuild if that) new seals bearings, clutch (friction + steels. The previous owner sent the top end away to the renowned 2 stroke tuner Eric Gorr. The barrel was ported + polished to a high std, re-bored and a new prox piston fitted, boyson reads, up jetted carb the works. Dep expansion chamber finished off the tuning. this is my 3rd CR 500 and by far the quickest 2 stroke MX bike i have ridden. When the engine was re built it was also polished to a high std, the top end, engine cases etc etc have all been mirror polished. HRC ignition cover was also added (rare to find these days) also there is a seally flywheel weight fitted to improve the power delivery, (still lifts in 5th on the throttle).
Frame + Suspension
Frame has been plastic coated, front suspension is a CRF 450 set up, forks have been stripped + rebuilt, also stiffened up for road use, Rear shocker is a Ohlins unit, again stiffened up for road set up. Yolks and swing arm + rear linkage have also been mirror polished. brakes are std rear set up, and a 320 mm braking set up on the front end.
Excel rims. talon hubs, stainless steel spokes etc, fitted with super-sticky tyres (plenty of life in them too) recent regina chain + talon sprockets (rear sprocket is much smaller then the Standard MX sprocket for better top end) have been fitted as well during the build.
Brand new plastics, graphics, Pro taper bars, hand guards, front + rear lights seat cover, etc etc etc, all nuts and bolts have been replaced, S/steel + zinc plated replacements. The bike has a full wiring harness and all the electrics work, this harness is specifically made for the CR500 supermoto conversion,(small fortune to buy) there is a pick up coil for the electrics added to the stator plate which generates the power, there is also a brand new battery fitted into the air box, so dual power supply.
The bike has cost a small fortune to build, these are becoming rare especially in this condition and correctly built. There is 12 months MOT on the bike as well, just put though its test last week. The bike is extreme and is certainly not for the novice, i have a whole host of spares with the bike including 2 full sets of plastics, graphics kit, enduro wheels with as new tyres. spare Dep silencer, spare bars etc etc etc.
