IBC Adapter (2" - S60 - 60mm) to 1/2" Brass Ball Valve and Hose TailThis is an adapter to fit standard UK & European IBC Containers which normally have a 2" BORE, which is a 60mm Butress/Coarse Thread (measured thread edge to thread edge). More details on IBC fitment are below
It converts the S60 buttress IBC outlet thread (after the valve) to a more useful Ball Valve with Hose Tail, for you to connect as you wish. Your hose needs to have an ID (inner Diameter/Bore) to match.
You can choose from Size (below)
- 13mm (1/2")
- 20mm (3/4")
- 25mm (1")
You ALSO have the OPTION of either the Standard Seals, where your adapter is fitted with EPDM & Buna N (Nitrile) Seals or choosing the VITON Seal option for superior chemical resistance.
You can read more about whether you need VITON seals or not below, after I discuss the information on IBC fitting below. If you are just using water, this is compatible with all of the materials/seals, and you can just select the standard seal option, followed by the size you need.
---- QUICK TIP
A quick tip - Don't measure the OD (outer diameter) of your hose that is for Compression/MDPE fittings/Tube. ID/BORE is for Hose/Pipe which is standard engineering convention. In other words if you ask for a 25mm or 1" hose, 99% of the time, that means 25mm or 1" Bore/ID. With compression/MDPE fittings it is backwards, so if you are mixing the two types in your system be aware. You can read more about this in my compression/MDPE adapter section where I elaborate.
There is a complete range of adapters (to 1" Hose, to 3/4" Hose, to 1/2" Hose, 1" Thread, 3/4" Double Hose, Etc) in my eBay shop.
IBC FITTING INFORMATIONAll of my adapters fit the most common type of UK/European IBC thread on the outlet pipe (after the valve), which is known by any of the following names/details :
- S60x6 Thread
- 60mm - Buttress/Coarse Thread
- Schutz Brand IBC (Buttress/Coarse thread - NOT FINE Thread - See below)
- DIN61 or DIN 6131 Thread
- 2" or 50mm with a coarse thread. (This is easily confusing, if you measure thread peak to thread peak then it is 2.5" or 60mm. If you were to measure the ID or bore (Internal Diameter) it is 48 - 50mm, which is where the 2" comes from. They are both the same IBC outlet, the common type, just measured differently).
The Outlet/IBC thread has the following dimensions
CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS ON IBC FITTING AND THE DIFFERENT SIZES
Which will look like the picture below
- Thread Diameter =60mm (D1)
- Thread Pitch = 4mm (P1)
- Thread Root = 54mm
- Threads on IBC outlet = 2 - 3 (There are 4 threads per inch, but outlet pipe is less than 1", hence 2 - 3 threads)
The only other type you are likely to encounter is a larger size known as either S80 (3" Bore) or S100 (4" bore), OR where a CAM LOCK fitting is either present (no threads), or has been removed, this are often Schutlz Brand IBC's and there is a FINE pitch thread instead (2" IBC bore, 58mm Edge to Edge thread, but LOTS of thread turns per inch, like 5 - 7 threads, like a plumbers pipe thread). This adapter does not fit those sizes/types, BUT I will be listing these in my ebay shop for sale in the near future.
DO I NEED VITON SEALS & SHOULD I CHOOSE THE "Heavy Duty" Version Instead?
Before I discuss whether VITON seals are the right choice, lets quickly look at the adapter types I sell. As you can see below I sell a range of IBC adapters in two types. Basic and "Heavy Duty". The version you are looking at right now is the Heavy Duty Version.
The reasons why you should choice either of these will depend on your answers below.
--- Mechanical Strength
The HD versions are much stronger than my Basic version (see my other listings), and more suitable for regular use, but remember. These are plastic based. They might be very strong industrial plastic, but they are still plastic. They are best suited to heavy domestic use, or light industrial use. For heavy industrial use for off load duties you will be better to choose a metal version in stainless steel or aluminum one, which will be much more robust, or for reasons of chemical compatibility (see below)...I don't currently sell those, although watch this space!
--- Chemical Strength
Mechanical strength, is important, but if the chemical/products you plan to use with the adapter are not compatible, then this strength will be useless, as the chemicals/products will attack and soften the materials. If you are just using water, this is compatible with all of the materials/seals, and you can just select the standard seal option.
CLICK HERE TO CHECK CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
This brings me to VITON Seals. VITON is a unique flouroelastomer, with superb chemical resistance, which is also known as FKM. As a general rule of thumb it offers much greater chemical resistance than Nitrile or EPDM, but this is NOT true for every product or chemical, and for this reason the correct thing to do is to start by checking your chemical vs the various materials for compatibility, either through clicking the link above or through your own references/experiences.
It should be obvious that if your chemical or product is not compatible with the standard seals which are Buna N (Nitrile) & EPDM, then they are going to leak, as the seals will fail. You have the option of choosing VITON seals, which IF your chemical/product is compatible with will be the correct seal option. Once again, If you are just using water, this is compatible with all of materials/seals, and you can just select the standard seal option.
In addition to the seals, you need to think about the material of the adapters themselves. I use Polypropylene (glass reinforced), in my Heavy Duty Adaprers. If your chemical or product is compatible with the seals (either Standard or Viton), AND Polypropylene, then just choose your seal option and check out. Alternatively if your chemical or product is NOT compatible Polypropylene, then you need to purchase a stainless steel or aluminum version, which I don't currently sell, although watch this space!
COMBINED POSTAGE/FREE POSTAGE

--- UK ONLY ----
You can purchase with confidence as all of my items are brand new, and come with a 12 month warranty as standard, subject to appropriate use (and chemical compatibility if relevant. In the rare event you need to make a claim on the warranty, I will replace or refund (pro-rata) the item depending on your exact circumstances. Any remaining warranty time will be added to the replacement item. (i.e if you had 3 months remaining, the replacement item would come with 3 months warranty, not a new 12 months period as with the original).
--- INTERNATIONAL ----
I am unable to offer a warranty for international purchases, due to the cost of replacement shipping. However please buy with confidence in the knowledge that all of my items are brand new, and have been manufactured to a very high standard, where defects in the products, are in fact quite rare.
