For reference: An 18 sq. ft. of leather is equal to about 1 yard of 54" wide fabric, so 28 ft 2 hide is equal to 1.6 yards of fabric.

Hide is slightly heavier than typical upholstery leather.

There is a strong smell to this leather and it must be aired out.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Because our cow-hides are top grain (versus inferior secondary cuts from the hide), some natural markings including brands, finished scratches and bites, hump holes (a narrow slit along top edge of spine common to some breeds), may or may not be present. Typically, these markings are very subtle and are considered by many as a “true marking” of a fine, genuine leather.  In some cases a small hole will result from the tanning process (average 1-3 inches). Most holes will be located near the edge or spine of the hide, parts ordinarily not used when cutting the leather for upholstering. The hides that came specifically from wild elk may have bullet holes, scratches, drag marks, scuffs, or other blemishes but most of the time over 90% of each hide is useable.
