A listed artist, born in Govan, Glasow. Studied fine art Glasgow School of Art. Painter, printer and illustrator.
He was an active member of the prestigious Glasgow Art Club where he exhibited paintings on many occasions.
Best known for his paintings which are full of colour and vibrant execution.
He exhibited at all the major public venues R GI. RA and many others.
He had sellout one man shows in Germany, another in France and two at the Scottish Amicable Gallery in Glasgow.
There are many private collectors of his works including clients in Japan, South Africa, Germany, France, the USA and UK
Lectured in art at Langside College and did various illustrative and cartoon work for various companies and publications.
He and his wife were associated with the first Edinburgh fringe club in 1961 and life long members of The Citizens theatre society
He was a keen musician and designed posters for various music societies and exhibitions.
His work make good prices at auction and continue to do so even in the present financial climate.
This work is verified as comming from the McIlhhenny estate and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
