Discovered Tom Sharpe after watching Blott on the Landscape. The book itself was in good condition for an early impression. The content was hilarious and amicably scathing of the Apartheid regime. I can quite see why he was eventually deported from South Africa. The level of farce in the plot is quite credible for those raised in that mindset.

I read this book some thirty years ago. It's still hilarious. I had tears running down my eyes. Not sure what the other passengers in the train carriage thought of me!
