Iyonix X100 - RISC OS 5 with Aemulor

This is one of the last RISC OS machines made by Castle Technology, this one was purchased from Castle Technology in October 2004.

The machine has been very well looked after and was only used by the deputy head for office work, backing up the network, pen drive/card reading and for photograph editing.  It has not been used by the pupils at all and has no security marking on the case.  It was originally bought with a view to buying more for use across the school, but we decided to go for Macs instead!
There are two USB ports, a microphone socket and a headphone socket on the front, along with an on button.  The computer has a DVD writer, floppy disc drive and built in card reader.  In 2004 prices for this computer without the card reader and with only a CD reader/writer started at £1250, so this high spec model would have cost more.

On the back there are serial and network ports and additional audio sockets.  There are a further two USB ports and monitor sockets.  
The original restore/installation CD is included and the original manual.


The machine is fully working and was in regular use until very recently.  The machine has a working copy of Aemulor installed which allows you to run older 26 bit code on this 32 bit machine.  All the bundled software is on the hard drive, so there is plenty for you to play with when you unpack the computer.

Informaton from the original press release about the machine states that "Performance of the X100 is the same as the IYONIX pc and runs the same version of RISC OS, but the X100 does not feature the legacy Podule bus. However future expansion is catered for by two low-profile PCI expansion slots accessed from the rear of the computer.  It features an nVidia GeForce video card. The size of the X100 is ideal for installation on desktops and is strong enough to allow a wide range of monitors to be placed on the X100. The X100 dimensions are just 105mm high, 325mm wide and 430mm deep."

The monitor, mouse and keyboard are not included in the auction, as these are in use with other computers now.  However any USB keyboard and mouse will work and the machine will support a variety of monitors.

All of the proceeds from this sale will benefit the pupils in the school.

This item is heavy and has to be well packed for sending and consequently is expensive to post.  Please note we do not post computers to locations outside the UK.  We apologise to any possible international bidders, but we have had difficulties with this in the past.
