Item specifics

Seller notes: Very Good
Author: J.R.R. Tolkien Special Attributes: 1st Edition
Fiction Subject: Fantasy Place of Publication: London
Date of Publication: 1950-Now
An original first-edition copy of the Dust-jacket (only) to J.R.R. Tolkien's book The Two Towers.

Published in 1954 by George Allen & Unwin, The Two Towers is Part Two of Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.

This is a GENUINE original first-edition dust-jacket, NOT a facsimile reproduction or a photocopy.

No mention of any later impressions or editions.
The front flap carries reviews (after reading Part One) by Richard Hughes, Naomi Mitchison and C.S. Lewis,
and the price of 21s net.
The back flap advertises all three parts of the trilogy (Part Three was forthcoming).
The back panel carries ads for The Hobbit (Second Edition, Fifth Impression), price 8s 6d net,
and for Farmer Giles of Ham, Library Edition, 7s 6d net.
(Although ours is NOT a facsimile, a first-edition copy can be viewed full-out on the LLC website,

This rare original dust-jacket is not price-clipped and is in very nice overall condition.
The jacket spine is clean, with the reds still strong (reds are often faded).
There are two short tears at the top of the spine, which could easily be closed.
Also, there are small losses to both ends of the spine and to each of the four corners.
Otherwise, the jacket is in exceptionally good condition.
Sold with a 1967 edition of The Return of the King purely to support and protect the jacket.

Postage is FREE (but not slow, like some Free postage!).
UK customers will receive the item by Next Day Special Delivery Signed For.
Customers in the rest of the world will receive the item by Air Mail Signed For.
That way, delivery is both fast and secure.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a much-sought-after original jacket - perhaps to
complete a set, or to upgrade your First Edition copy.
