The Buccaneer was a Cold War era formidable two seat attack aircraft primarily conceived and designed in the late 1950's for Naval carrier-borne strike missions below radar at very low level. The RAF adopted the aircraft type from 1969 and this example was delivered direct to the RAF in 1977 as a later build spec S2B. ''Bucc's'' were operated until 1994 when they were finally retired from service having had a long and highly successful career. Buccaneer aircraft were also used with distinction during Desert Storm in 1991. Buccs were often a familiar sight in the skies over Nevada regularly participating in Exercise Red Flag. XZ431 participated at Red Flag in 1977 at Nellis AFB and on the Canadian exercise Maple Flag III two years later in 1979.

For anyone unfamiliar with the Buccaneer or its capabilities the following short video should fill in a few blanks and clearly illustrate what the Buccaneer was capable of. Basically flying very low and very fast! As a kid at air shows the Buccaneer display was always the Best to watch, nothing else seemed to fly as low, as fast or be as agile.

This nose section was saved when the rest of the aircraft was scrapped. The cockpit was cut from the fuselage just behind the rear cockpit. The cockpit has been preserved and slowly restored to the condition it is in today shown exactly as pictured. Mounted on a converted trailer by its last owner with a access ladder and viewing platform it has been used as a travelling exhibit often being displayed at air shows. I would say it is the best Buccaneer Cockpit section that has ever been available for sale.  I would describe the front cockpit as being 95% complete and the rear cockpit around 80% complete. Both ejection seats (decommissioned and Inert) are in good order and even the original drogue parachutes packed in the head boxes. The nose cone removes and the radar skirt opens. The radar set is still fitted but has been decommissioned. Some nice details remain such as the external refuelling point and control panel hidden behind two hinged access panels. The pictures paint a thousand words but please feel free to ask any questions.

The Cockpit is currently situated in the UK. We can arrange worldwide container shipping at buyers expense. A number of shipping options are available, for example shipping the cockpit on the trailer exactly as pictured would probably require a flat rack 40ft container with no sides or roof. By removing the trailer axles and wheels we could then get it into a 40ft open top container. By removing the cockpit from the trailer completely (not exporting the trailer) and removing the nose cone it should be possible to crane into a open top 20ft container. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. All measurements are below. We only export to certain countries so please ask first. A UK Export licence will be required which would take around 6 week to be processed. Buyer is responsible for any import paperwork or duties. Buyer is responsible for ensuring the trailer is road legal and fit for purpose in intended country of use. Cockpit can be shipped with or without the trailer. There are some areas of damage on the belly of the cockpit from when the cockpit was cut off the aircraft and sat on the floor, also from where it has been sat on formers. These are not visible unless you get down on hands and knees looking directly under the belly but need to be mentioned so the new owned is aware. Delivery within the UK and Europe can be arranged again at buyers expense by road.


Overall this is a Stunning very complete Display Cockpit that truly deserves a good home!
