Katherine Jenkins Katherine Jenkins Celebrity Hand Signed Photo 5 x 7” The entire proceeds of this auction will go to charity – The Cure Parkinson’s Trust – please bid generously. This auction is for a 5 x 7” colour Photograph signed by the entertainer Katherine Jenkins. The item is ready to be mounted/framed. The autograph is in excellent condition and has been signed in black ink. It comes with a certificate of authenticity. The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (see profile below) wrote to Katherine Jenkins in connection with its fundraising activities and received this personally signed photograph in response. Biography
Katherine Jenkins is a mezzo-soprano responsible for making classical music contemporary. Performing both operatic and popular songs along with musical theatre numbers and hymns, her talents range across a wide spectrum of musical genres. Her success in both the classical and pop charts shows this.
Born 29th June 1980 in the tiny village Neath, in the Welsh Valleys, Jenkins started her life a million miles away from the glittering heights multi-platinum record sales can bring. A straight A student, she won a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music. After graduating with honours in French, German and Russian, Jenkins received her music teacher’s diploma and began her career as a freelance singing teacher. However, it wasn’t long before she turned her hand to modeling, being crowned the Face of Wales 2000.
Music was her true calling though and her natural talent was recognised by Universal Classics and Jazz who reportedly offered her the most lucrative 6-album deal in British classical recording history. Since then she has released seven classical albums, six of which have gone to number one in the classical charts, and sold more than 4 million copies. She also became the first British classical crossover artist to have 2 consecutive number one albums in the same year, and the first female artist to win 2 consecutive Classical BRIT Awards. Her 3rd studio album Living a Dream not only held onto the top spot on the classical charts for nearly a year, it also reached number four in the UK top 40 charts - not bad for a girl from the Valleys.
It’s not just chart success that has made Katherine Jenkins’ career reach such dizzying heights. She has also cemented her position as queen of the crossover with performances on some of the biggest stages in the world. She has sung at Westminster Cathedral in front of the Pope, at the Royal Variety Performance in front of the Queen, at the Sydney Opera House during the Rugby World Cup in 2003, at the Tsunami Relief Concert in 2005 and squeezed in a performance of the Welsh National Anthem in the 2008 FA cup final - to name just a few.
Many also know her as the new ‘Forces’ Sweetheart’ thanks to her unfaltering commitment to British troops. She travelled to Iraq to entertain soldiers at Christmas in both 2005 and 2006 and despite her flight to Afghanistan being cancelled in December 2010 she held an impromptu carol concert for the lucky soldiers on the grounded plane.
Most recently Jenkins has been in LA working on her latest album under the watchful eye of producer to the stars, David Foster. On the brink of cracking the US and in the process of planning her first solo arena tour, Wales’ sweetheart shows no sign of slowing down. Any why should she? The world, as they say, is her oyster.
Katherine has kindly donated a signed photograph of herself which is up for auction, the proceeds of which will be donated to The Cure Parkinson’s Trust. The photograph is a fantastic quality 5 x 7 inch colour image personally signed by the singer. For more information about The Cure Parkinson’s Trust go to www.cureparkinsons.org.uk. The CPT is trying to increase awareness of the condition and adjust people’s perceptions of it - for example, that it affects young people as well as old. Vitally the funds raised from this auction will be used to accelerate the search to find a cure for Parkinson’s.
