Searching for cheap CDs on eBay I came across some Kenny G CDs. Years ago, not sure how many now, I bought a Kenny G CD in the USA while on a visit. That's interesting, I thought, and started to search for cheap Kenny G CDs. I have now bought a few to add to my collection. In style Kenny's Alto Sax is easy to listen to although each track is much like any other; some of them don't appear to have any melodic theme with Kenny seeming to extemporise on 'nothing'. I do a lot of that on the organ so know how it goes; I call it ‘making it up as you go along’. However it would be more interesting if Kenny was a little more inventive as I am sure he 'could do better' if some thought was put into it. However for something to listen to in the car (mine plays MP3 files) there is little distraction from the driving and creates a pleasant ambience, with that 'feel good' factor that makes a pleasant journey. One irritation with Kenny G CDs is the repetition of tracks; a group of CDs may have 50 tracks but about a third of them are repeats from other CDs. However, at the price of £3 or so I am not complaining. While you may not like what he does much of what passes for music these days is just a noise to me being brought up on Bach and Buxtehude.Read full review
