The Kosta Boda Book of Glass

Item Notes:  Complete illustrated catalog of the company's glass works as of June 1986, including unique pieces and limited editions. Illustrated in color. Text in Swedish, English, rench and German. In an age of fast food, fast cars, and fast living, there is still something that is made slowly and carefully. The glass of Kosta Boda. Here teams of five men still gather to make one wine glass. Artists still wander through the workrooms, picking up a vase here, a bowl there, checking the purity of color, the cleanness of an edge. And the mold maker still carves his precise shapes from a log he's just brushed the snow from. In the small villages of Kosta, Boda, Johansfors and Afors, there is little to distract one from the glass. Aside from the glassworks, a restaurant, and a few stores, there is nothing here but fir and birch trees. Forests that attracted the early glassmakers in the 1740s, when Kosta Boda began. They found everything they needed here to perfect their magic-wood, water, fire and solitude. Originally, Kosta Boda made window glass. Soon, though, they were blowing crystal bowls, vases, stemware. The kind of pieces that can be found today in museums in London, the Cooper-Hewitt in New York, and the Royal Palace in Stockholm. Yet each piece is born in the same place, deep in the woods of Sweden. It is here that beautiful ideas are spun into molten glass. 304 pages.

All shipments are carefully wrapped with 80# poly-coated Kraft which provides excellent protection from handling and weather.   Heavier items are wrapped with b-flute cardboard.  We use high-proportion recycled fiber content and mimimal plastic content materials.

US Orders, including APO, FPO, Puerto Rico & Guam:

Please choose Media Mail or Priority Mail at PayPal checkout.  We do combine shipping for multiple items shipped by Media Mail.  Each additional book after your first is just $1.00, so two books would be $4.95; three: $5.95; etc.  We'll send a revised eBay invoice to reflect the combined shipment.  If we neglect to do so, please send us an invoice request through eBay's E-mail Messager

OVERSIZED & OVERWEIGHT BOOKS are designated "Oversized"  at the start of the Item Notes immediately above and may include book sets.  Oversized books are either too large to fit into USPS Priority Mailer or exceed 4 lbs. and must ship at the higher rate of $29.95.   Please choose "Foreign Expedited" ($29.95) shipping at PayPal checkout.  If you order an oversized book in error, just let us know and we'll cancel the sale.

Although most International orders are delivered well with in the estimated shipping, occasionally shipping may take longer than 21 days (rarely up to 45 days) due to customs inspections.   Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges and are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
