Here we have my beloved Classic London Taxi.
I bought this about 3 months ago as I’d always wanted one. I bought it as a toy, and it is absolutely fantastic. However, I’ve been there and done that now, so it’s time for me to move on, (I’ve just bout an old Range Rover) and time for someone else to enjoy this fine example of iconic British Heritage. There weren’t that many variants of this vehicle over the years, but this is the one to have. Powered by the absolutely unbreakable Nissan D27 diesel engine, with the automatic transmission and overdrive, it has to be absolutely the easiest car to drive. This has to be a very practical vehicle. Room for 5 passengers in the rear, or lots of shopping or stuff for the tip - this really is the original people carrier! Drives absolutely superb. Quite noisy in the driver’s cab, much quieter in the rear. There are quite a few rattles, but it has done 242,000 miles! Cruises happily at 70mph all day and is surprisingly nimble in town. (Beats all the boy racers at the roundabouts!) Separate heating for the driver and passengers. Wheelchair ramps, and side step are all included. The driver’s compartment looks quite small, (I think the small window always make the driver look cramped) but it is surprisingly roomy and comfortable. And don’t forget the legendary 25 foot turning circle! Absolutely totally reliable. Starts first time, every time. There are various scabs and scrapes, which I’ve tried to show in the photos, but it is generally very solid. Don’t forget it has a substantial separate chassis. Please be aware though that this has been a working vehicle. It’s done nearly 242,000 miles. It’s not brand new. It does have faults :-) The car has central locking but the driver’s door doesn’t lock from the outside. So there we are. Not much more to say really. Have a bid and have some fun!
