  • First printing of this limited edition boxed set;  first edition thus
  • Number 137 of 250 copies signed by illustrator Alan Lee (all three volumes numbered and signed)
  • Published to celebrate the centenary of Tolkien's birth on January 3, 1892
  • Quarter-bound in green morocco, all edges gilt, ribbon marker
  • Books and slipcase both appear "as new" and unread
  • Overall condition:  mint, very fine according to ABAA standards
This is probably the finest edition of TLOTR ever published.  A stunning example of the book arts and nearly impossible to find in this superlative condition.  One time and one time only listing on Ebay.
