LVC - Levi's Vintage Clothing x Aero Leathers of Scotland, 'Bird of Prey' black Horsehide Leather Jacket
This beautiful jacket is a reproduction of a 1930s horsehide leather motorcycle jacket, but was marketed by levi's Vintage Clothing as a 1950's motorcycle rider's jacket. This was made by Aero Leathers in Scotland, under contract from Levi's Vintage Clothing in very limited quantities in 2003. It was made in two varieties: a brown horsehide version and a black horsehide version. this is the black horsehide version made with Aero Leather's 'Vintage' Black Horsehide Leather which Aero began to stock for their collaborative production with LVC, and have since continued to stock and use on their own jackets. This leather was initially regarded as being more expensive than what Aero would normally use on their own line of jackets but they were able to bring it in because LVC was, at the time, willing to shell out the costs for the best quality horsehide. Aside from the beautiful grain-rich, thick, heavy horsehide, the jacket also features a 100% cotton, tartan-plaid liner, and period correct talon zipper. This is one of LVCs finest releases, and very hard to come by.
This jacket has seen light use, worn in moderate conditions with little activity. The jacket was pre-aged by Aero Leathers as per design contract from LVC. All the apparent leather distressing was part of the jacket production. There is no damage to the jacket.
**This model jacket runs about a half size small.** This jacket, tagged sized Regular (medium), fits like a roomy small, or fitted medium. If you generally wear a size 38 or smaller, this jacket will fit (fitted 38, relaxed 36). If you generally wear a size 40 or larger, I recommend looking for a tag size large. Please see actual measurements for further fit reference.
Photos 1 through 6 are of the jacket being sold. Photos 7 through 10 are of the same model jacket, but size small, that has already been sold.
I have heard that the painted thunderbird design can be removed by using dark leather wax, but I prefer the painted design as it compliments the jacket, making it even more unique.
