Due to prssure from the wife and if I am honest, lack of time to commit. I am reluctantly selling my 80" series one Land Rover.
Where do I start with this?? If you are looking at this item you will have an understanding of what I am selling.
Lets start with the V5. My Land Rover is registred with a current V5 document with what is believed to be the original 3 letter and 3 number registration mark. The model year is 1950, so this is one of the last "lights behind the grill" model, this is also comfirmed with the chassis that has the old style front spring hanger brackets.
I have spent the past couple of years, deciding where to start with this project and collecting all of the " hard to find" parts to complete, so please read on to fully appreciate what I am selling.
You will see from the pictures that I have started to strip down the Landy and can tell you that some work is need to bring the chassis to MOT standard, you will see however, there is an additional correct chassis to use for parts. Staying with the chassis, I have a full set of new bushes to fit to the chassis once repaired.
Moving to axles. The chassis is fitted with the front and rear axles and there is an additional front and rear axle that can be used for spares. I also have a set of seals and gaskets to allow the strip down and rebuild of the axles. This also include bumpstops and checkstraps for the chassis.
Suspension. There is a full set of springs fitted to the chassis and I think a full spare set. The shocks are shot, but you can buy these from John Craddocks.
Gearbox. It is believed that the chassis is fitted with the original gearbox and levers. I have not done anything with the gearbox, but check that you can select the gears. I also have 2 spare gearboxes that can be used as spares.
Engine. This model Landy would have been fitted with a 1600cc Petrol engine. However, at the time this was considered underpowered and as such allot of 80" were fitted with the later 2000cc Petrol engine. It is believed that around the early 1950's Land Rover and there dealers offered a "factory" repower to the 2000cc engine and these engines were plated with a "Rover Remanufactured" plate. The engine fitted to my chassis is one of the repowered engines. It looks complete and the last time I checked it turned over by hand. The sale also includes a spare 2000cc engine and a 2250cc engine.
Bodywork. I think I have all of the panels you will require including front wings, rear tub, doors, seat boxes/lids, windscreens and tailgate.
Wheels and Tyres. The chassis is stood on a set of wheels and tyres (Not sure if original). But, included in the sale is a set of 5 Goodyear Super-HiMiler 6.50-16 8 Ply tryes on rims. You will see from the pics that these are brand new tyres (Army reserve) and are in mint condition.
Now for the hard to get bits.
The sale includes a repairable 1950 80" bulkhead which requires repair to the top edge (Where the screen fits) and can easily be completed at home. I also have a pair of repro head lights and repro "D" shape tail lights, I also have a powder coated (Black) fuel tank with original drop tube and level guage. I have a dash panel assembly with all of the guages (Speedo stripped and calibrated by ex-Land Rover engineer) to include a repro key switch and battery terminals. I also have a choke assembly and hand throttle (Not easy to obtain). There is also a full set of hood sticks/hoops.
There are a number of boxes with various parts including voltage regulators, shackles, gearbox, suspension and engine parts (Inc Carbs).
The sale also includes a paper copy of the parts and service manuals.
I think I have covered everything, but there is that much stuff included in the sale, I am sure I have missed something, but anything I find to do with the Landy will be included.
Oh!! The steering wheel!!! The Landy has the original wheel assembly with the switch and horn button it is all there, but the horn button is in two pieces, but the switch works. A bit of time and you may be able to make a suitable centre button.
I will happily answer any questions to the best of my knowledge, please call me on 07837 544979
This sale is obviously collection only and I will only accept cash on collection. No shipping!
Please note you are not bidding on a finished vehicle and dont expect more than a project, but I have been as honest as I can.
I have set the start price at £1,100.00, I think this is a fair price for what you will get. I could sell the parts off and make more than this. But as this Landy could be put back together and on the road, I am selling as a job lot.
