Landrover Freelander TD4 Diesel EGR “SUPERFLOW”Bypass Valve New and redesigned Landrover Freelander TD4 Diesel EGR “Superflow” Bypass valve. This valve has been redesigned and improved over the old design and any other cheap imitation designs that are currently circulating on ebay. The new design of EGR bypass now utilizes a high quality CNC machined body that allows 10% more air to flow through it than the previous design and up 12+% more air than any other EGR bypass for sale on Ebay. The increased flow through this bypass is a result of consistent CAD (Computer Aided Design) development in order to achieve this unique design. The internal body of the bypass is now of a tapered profile to ensure that the incoming charge air accelerates as it passes through the body into the intake manifold. This increased airflow will offer increased performance benefits over the previous design thus promoting a more efficient running engine. Also as a first for EGR Bypasses for the Landrover Freelander TD4 Diesel engines a laser cut and tapped mounting bracket is now attached to the main body of the EGR Bypass. This mounting point will allow the OEM bracket from the OEM EGR to be attached to the bypass thus allowing the Engine cover to be secure at all points, no other EGR Bypass has this feature included. Also as a first incorporated is a stainless blanking plug that can be removed so that a boost gauge hose tail (included in fitting kit) can be fitted thus allowing a boost gauge to be fitted to the car with ease. A boost gauge fitted to a diesel engine is a good indicator to how the engine is performing. On tuned diesel engines a boost gauge can help to assist fine tuning to ensure that maximum reliable power increases are obtained. Boost gauges are particularly useful on cars that are running tuning boxes or remaps. A secondary feature next to the blanking plug is a mounting pin for the redundant vacuum pipe that is disconnected from the original EGR Valve. As the previous designs the EGR body incorporates a deep grooved lip to ensure that the turbo pipe cannot slip off the EGR bypass.
At a buy it now cost of £49.99 this bypass cost 1/3 of what an OEM EGR valve cost from a dealership, OEM EGR valves retail at over £150 so this item is a very cost effective investment for your car. So why fit this bypass valve????? This bypass valve has been carefully designed and manufactured to replace the original EGR valve system. The original system that is fitted to modern diesel engines allows hot and contaminating exhaust gasses to enter the intake system on the Landrover TD4 diesels and mix with the oil causing thick layers of carbon paste to bond to the walls on the intake system thus reducing performance. Also the EGR valve that is present in the std EGR body reduces the intake opening by some 40% due to its poor design which in return severely restricts the volume of air reaching the engine thus reducing the performance and power of the engine. Because of the restriction that the STD EGR causes it actually heats the inlet charge gas temperature up before it reaches the combustion chambers. Any restriction that the inlet charge gas meets en route to the combustion chamber will cause the gas to heat up and reduce thermal efficiency. The factory fitted exhaust gas recirculation system has been applied to all modern diesel and petrol engines for some years, the principal behind the factory part is to allow some of the exhaust gasses to enter into the inlet system at low speeds and light throttle openings i.e. traffic conditions, essentially helping to control the emission output of the vehicle. However, this is not necessary requirement as diesels are not measured on CO2emission out put, but particulate (soot). There are two main draw backs from having the OEM EGR system on your car. One, is that by allowing hot exhaust gas to pass back in to your inlet system you lower the effective combustion achieved, as an engine will always combust better on cold dense air. Secondly, the soot from EGR mixes with the oil vapor produced by the turbo and forms a paste which bonds itself to the inlet manifold, cylinder head ports and valves thus reducing the ability to get the required airflow into the engine, in effect causing the engine to strangle itself. A blocked up or faulty EGR valve on a diesel engine will cause the car to smoke heavily, loose performance and increase fuel consumption. The EGR bypass has been manufactured using 10mm thick laser cut flanges and all the sub assembly components have been assembled using jigs to ensure accuracy and consistency every time. This product has been MIG welded by a time served coded welding engineer. The EGR bypass has been manufactured using 10mm thick laser cut flanges (unlike other cheap versions on ebay that come with a 4mm flange that easily distorts and does not seal properly and also comes with a cheap cork gasket in a bid to try and get the flange to seal) and all the sub assembly components have been assembled using jigs to ensure accuracy and consistency every time. This product has been MIG welded by a time served welding engineer. Each EGR valve is professionally fully POWDER COATED in gloss black to ensure that an excellent aesthetic appearance is achieved along with maximum corrosion protection thus ensuring that the product enjoys a long and trouble free life. Each EGR Bypass sold comes with a fitting kit plus a full colour pictorial instruction sheet is also included as part of this kit for ease of fitment. Removal of old EGR and fitting of this new one is approx 20 minutes for a DIY mechanic. Fitting Kit includes: § 1 x EGR “Superflow” Bypass Valve § 4 x A2 Stainless Steel mounting Bolts § 1 x 80mm jubilee Clip zinc coated § 1 x Stainless Steel Blanking Plug § 1 x Hosetail for optional boost gauge connection § 1 x tie wrap to secure redundant vacuum pipe § 1 x Full pictorial fitting instructions. This replaces the existing EGR assembly and in return it offers the following improvements over the standard EGR system. § Significantly Improved air flow, 10% more than previous design, at least 12% more than any other bypass available on the market. § Reduced turbo lag so therefore more power earlier in the rev range, § More torque from 1200rpm till the redline § Lower intake temperatures due to increased airflow. § Prevents fouling of the expensive diesel injectors § Smoother engine running § Improved throttle response § Prevents carbon build up in the intake system § More power across the rev range and through all gears. § Eliminates tar and sediment build up inside inlet manifold, which in turn reduces air flow. § Get rid of all the problems associated with faulty or leaking EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems. § Cost effective solution and replacement part for original problematic EGR valve § Significant reduction of black smoke under acceleration. § Improved Fuel economy Any company that tunes diesels on a serious note will remove the EGR immediately as they know the damage it does to the engine performance in the long run. Please note that this item is designed and manufactured to very high standards by an experienced engineering professional so please do not confuse this item with other cheap replica EGR bypasses which appear on ebay which are of poor quality!!!
