Landrover series 2a swb classic 4x4 tax exempt no reserve

Hi and welcome to my auction for a Landrover series 2a

The vehicle is a classic 1970 series 2a which is TAX EXEMPT (FREE TAX) IT STARTS on the button , ENGINE IS AS SWEET AS A NUTT, RUNS AND DRIVES VERY well FOR THE AGE AND STILL HAS a 2286CC petrol  ENGINE, the engine has had the  head tuned aswell as having hardened valves to accept modern fuels ALSO HAS ELECTRIC IGNITION CONVERSION. IT GIVES ME A SMILE ON MY FACE EVERY TIME I DRIVE HER, AND EVERY TIME I GO INTO THE POST OFFICE AND TAX HER.

 at one stage she was used on a estate to transport shooting parties around still has the dog guard and gun rack fitted,      

it has also been fitted with an  ALTERNATOR so you do actually get lights that work the old dynamo was rubbish.

Has also been converted to a webber carb AND HAS GOOD TYRES ALL ROUND  

 new Parabolic springs fitted to rear this year and a new exhaust fitted

I HAVE FITTED HIGHER RATIO DIFFS TO HER WHICH GIVE SLIGHTLY BETTER FUEL ECONOMY BUT ALSO A BETTER CRUISING SPEED AND NOISE LEVEL!! YOU CAN ACTUALLY HAVE A CONVERSATION AT 50 MPH, (ORIGINAL DIFFS CAN BE SUPPLIED WITH HER IF YOU WANT THEM) 

also has a blaupunkt radio cd unit with speakers fitted in the fibreglass headliner (quite rare) which runs from the front to the back of the truck. 

 EXTERIOR IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE FOR ITS AGE IT DOES HAVE A FEW DINGS AND MARKS HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING TO BAD SHE HAS BEEN HAND PAINTED WITH COACH ENAMEL BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER,AND CONSIDERING THIS YOU WOULD LOOK AT HER AND NOT KNOW ITS BEEN HAND PAINTED.

 THE INTERIOR LOOKS PRETTY TIDY IT DOES HAVE SOME SPLITS IN THE SEATS BUT THESE COULD BE COVERED QUITE EASILY I WOULD IMAGINE.  

THIS LANDY IS TAX AND TESTED UNTIL JUNE 2013
AT THE LAST MOT THE TESTER REMARKED ON HOW SOLID SHE WAS UNDER NEATH AS HE BANGED AWAY WITH HIS HAMMER IN HIS WORDS SHE WOULD PUT ALOT OF DISCOS TO SHAME.
HAVING SAID THIS SHE DOES HAVE PATCHES THAT HAVE BEEN WELDED HERE AND THERE SHE IS 42 YRS OLD AFTER ALL 
CHASSIS HAS BEEN HAMMERITE PAINTED AND THE GEARBOX CROSSMEMBER IS REMOVABLE.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE POINTS ARE

IN REVERSE THERE IS A SLIGHT KNOCKING NOISE BUT STILL REVERSES QUITE HAPPILY (HAVE GOT ANOTHER GEAR BOX THAT WILL BE SUPPLIED WITH HER JUST NEVER FITTED IT) IN ALL FORWARD GEARS THE BOX IS GREAT DOESNT JUMP OUT OF GEAR HI / LO BOX ALL GOOD.

THE THRUST BEARING DOES MOAN SLIGHTLY OCCASIONALLY( NOT ALL THE TIME) 

the seat upholstery as already mentioned,

few very minor oil leaks that they all have.     

also missing some door close rubbers

both door tops would benifit from a little work  if you wanted her 100%( still structually good) 

i have given a 100% honest desription  warts and all      

roof rack and ladder  not included in sale but may be available seperatley
