Laverda Jota 1000
The original Superbike
1977 R reg, only 4 former keepers
Current keeper last 8 Years
36,899 miles in Silver, 100% original,
The fastest production bike of it’s
time. This Jota is in unmolested original condition and is ready to ride. She
sounds great, with no known major mechanical faults. Cosmetically she is in very
good condition with minor defects that would lend themselves to a running
restoration to factory. You could happily run this bike for a good number of
years or run her over this summer and restore / refresh over the coming winter.
Very few of these come up for auction in this original condition so get
Engine and gearbox: Is in excellent running order. Would
benefit from a detailing but no pitting/marking on cases and covers. No
mechanical noises and starts well with good compression.
Exhausts: They are in great cosmetic condition. Left
exhaust has some small perforations where the silencer bends before the
collector. Repairable rather than needs replacing.
Chassis: Overall in
great order. Some touch ups or a powder coat to make concourse but presentable
now unless looked at closely.
Wheels and tyres: Wheels in good and mechanical & cosmetic condition.
Just small paint blemishes from tyre changing evident. Tyres are Avon AM20
front and AM21 rear with loads of life left in them, no sidewall cracks or
evidence of puncture.
Suspension: Forks in great condition with no faults. Lowers
free from furring or stone chips. Stanchions and seals in excellent condition
with no pitting or weeping. Rubbers un-perished. Shocks in great mechanical
condition with touch ups needed to make concourse.
Brakes: Front and rear brakes in good cosmetic and
mechanical condition. Lots of pads and disc life left although discs have some
surface rust (they’re cast iron) that will clean off with use. Braided lines
Paintwork: In great cosmetic condition with no dents or
rust evident. Just blemishes and small scratches associated with being 36 years
Brightwork: Front & rear mudguards both in excellent
order with no rust. Lights in good order. Chain guard has some rust pitting but
is not bad.
Cockpit: Would benefit from a refresh but all gauges and
switch gear in working order. Plastic cap on indicator switch missing and
adjustable clip-ons have rust pitting but would clean up with a bit of elbow
Seat: Good condition with minor marks to vinyl and some stitching coming slightly loose where the vinyl meets at the tank, foam still
supportive. Seat pan in good condition with some surface rust but no holes.
