LOTUS ELITE SUPER 95

I have for sale chassis number 1864 series two RHD, the rarer super 95 car with all matching engine numbers and the sought after ZF gearbox with 4.2.1 diff. Finished in Lotus Yellow with one very small mark above the boot-lid. Lucas 700 tripod headlights, full pale blue leather interior with full harness seat belts, excellent sound-proofing , new correct wood-rim steering wheel . Chrome wire wheels with all 5 tyres at 95% good tread. The shut lines on the doors boot and bonnet (with air scoop ) are amongst the best I have seen . MOT and Taxed (free) until February 2013

The engine is the 95 BHP (hence Super 95) version with Twin one and quarter inch SUs, 360 degree high lift three bearing camshaft with the modified head.  The engine was also subject to a re-build in the USA (photos). There is a new modern distributor fitted  ( still have the original) and the car has an alternator fitted ( electric rev counter) a great benefit for night driving with no more flat batteries, cooling is helped by a modern high flow type auto on/off electric fan.

The car was a subject of a USA restoration in the hands of the late Richard Mandorian around the 2004/6 period.  I have photographic evidence of this. The car was then imported back to Great Britain in 2007 by me, Richard Woollett. I have some pics which infer that the car was raced at some time in the USA.

The car has been driven all over GB including two trips to France for the classic Le Mans and to the Silverstone classic events, and was the centre piece at the Donnington Park Lotus club stand. It is driven on local classic car runs most months and has won a few trophies for best car of show and car most wanted to own. Of course the car now has a patina of use.

The car was subject to the speculation that it was the car used to smuggle £s to Switzerland in the sixties , I have the full article should you wish to read it, it also has a painted dash much admired by other Elite owners in the style of the artist KLIMT.
