Maja soap is all that is left from the original Maja range made in Spain by Myrurgia since, I think, the 1920s. The company was taken over and for some strange reason changed the Maja scent, so that the new version (now probably 20 years old or more) smells nothing remotely as wonderful as the original. Even the talc smells has been changed. But thankfully the soap is just as lovely as it always was. It has the most wonderful scent - am not a perfumer but I would call it woody, smokey, spicey, and subtle. This is why the I would say the soap is value for money, although it may seem expensive for three bars. If you ever knew the old Maja you will understand what I mean. So I will continue to buy this soap as a treat (just for myself, not to be used by the family!) from time to time and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try the scent of a classic perfume. I don't think you'll be disappointed.Read full review

I first came across this soap on a stay in Spain and fell in love with it! I've been using it for years and recommend it. It has a georgeous scent and does not dry the skin.

This was bought on behalf of a friend who is part Spanish. She loves the soap and she says that this is the genuine article. I think it smells divine.

I love this soap and always take a bar on holiday. Have now started using it regularly at home. It smells wonderful and produces a rich lather.

It is our family’s favourite soap. We have always bought it in Spain but it is hard to find. I also like their hand cream in a tube.
