Masterpieces for collectors

Jochen Benzinger (*1961) had a good teacher in the guild master of Pforzheim where he did his apprenticeship in engraving, finishing by receiving a diploma and an award for being especially talented. Looking for a new challenge he taught himself the craft of engine turning, today no longer offered as an apprenticeship. He was aided in his endeavors by some older specialists still active in Pforzheim.

In 1985 he took over the company Kollmar, which had already been in existence for five generations and had an excellent reputation as an engine turning workshop.

Among Benzinger’s many machines one can find very old pieces, rescued from companies that went bankrupt and were in the act of throwing them away. These machines have made their way either to the Technical Museum or to Jochen Benzinger, who has carefully restored them and now uses them in his daily work.

Benzinger offers you an interesting and wide array of subjects. He engraves and engine turns dials, jewelry such as pendants, lockets and picture frames as well as caps for fine pens. During the last few years we have also specialized in hand-engraved and engine turned watches and movements, offering completely unique timepieces made to customers’ specifications.

I hate to use the word rare which I see on almost every watch add? I think those who use the word RARE!, should find the definition the word RARE!. here is the define of rare horology, collectable,Vintage & antiquarian a unique Heuer chronograph the watch dates from approx 1969 early 1970s, this is a unique time piece only 1 in the world of it's kind study the movement ? you are looking at the early work of a master watchmaker/ Engraver  Jochen Benzinger if you do not recognise his name  in the Horology world you still have a lot to learn? No one can and I mean no one can mistake his work by the obvious unique engrave wave patent, this is his very early work of Bezinger around 1984/85 now days he tends to more skeletonisation. I must state here and now and please do not find it in any way offensive do your research before asking certain questions to save your embassament, ie my brothers got one just like it, this is not a Heuer? ( sorry Heuerboy who are you? ) private joke!. Selling this type of horolgerie does tend to bring boffins out of there coffins sorry to the norm!. On to the watch i think it speaks for it's self simply a chonograph watch of pure beauty.Valjoux 7734 date display as used in the camaro,Solid matt black dial with white sub-seconds dials, white outer seconds, numerals and hands, Red sub hands and red center sweeping hand,Date display at the 6 hr, Stainless steel case with rotating black bezel.  Note: please make contact before making any commitment of purchase

THE BUYER/BIDDER
Please bare in mind before you by from us! That you are not buying a new watch from a high street retail outlet. Infact  you are buying a pre used collectors & antiquarium time piece from a individual independent seller. Note you will need to care for the watch to the highest level and it will require service at some point in time. Remember in some cases these time pieces have stood there test of time, and in most casis have lasted longer than the human who made them, and the person who purchased them from new.

What to exspect & recomendations for the owner of antiquarian watches:

All Antique watches are mechanical. Many repairs will not be cheap, as most likely they will require replacement of non-standard parts (unlike most late model watches).
          - Antique watches should not be beaten or dropped - because repairs may be expensive.
          - Antique watches are generally NOT waterproof. This is because waterproofing was not in general production until the middle of the 20th century for most watches. Therefore you should protect your antique watch from exposure to moisture.
          - If your watch becomes wet it should be dried off quickly. Carefully open all covers and use a hair drier to blow dry the movement, dial, covers, crown. This will reduce the amount of rust.
          - If your watch becomes wet with any kind of salt water you should immediately immerse or spray your watch with fresh (no-salt) water to remove all the salt from the works before drying the watch completely. Any salt left in the watch will combine with moisture in the air to rust metal components of the movement, case etc.
         - Winding any mechanical watch tight may break the mainspring. If you can avoid it do not wind the watch hard.
         - When adjusting the hands of your watch, move them in a clockwise direction only. Counter-clockwise adjustments may damage the movement.
        - If you must adjust counter-clockwise make it for small adjustments only (i.e. for minutes, NOT hours).
        - Be careful and gentle when adjusting the movement speed (faster or slower). Don't make sharp movements, and don't touch other components in the movement especially the pendulum mechanism.
       - Every 2-3 years it is necessary to service and oil vintage watches.
       - IF the watch is dirty - allow the watch to run down, don't wind it again until you have it serviced by a qualified watch repair expert. Dust will absorb and remove important lubricants and cause the movement pieces to wear down.
      - To clean the case, dial and crystal you should use a cloth that does NOT leave fibers as these may get caught up in the movement. Check with your Watch repair expert to get an appropriate cloth.
      - Keep your antiques watch away from magnets. Strong magnetic fields may affect the accuracy of your watch since some vintage watches were made with iron based components in the movement.
      - Most Cases and Covers are fine components and will not handle abuse well. The watch should not be shaken, beaten, or stressed.
     - Antique watches generally experience an error of up to 5-7 minutes a day. Any accuracy of +- 5 minutes is very good
.

INTERNATIONAL PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BIDDING OR BUYING

Vintage & collectors watches are very delicate and I package to the highest degree to prevent damage.

High altitude flights can be hard on watches due to extreme temperature changes. This can cause the oil viscosity to decrease (gum up) and prevent a watch from ticking (the balance moving freely etc.). It may need to be oiled when it arrives regardless of its recent servicing (if applicable). Although this is only a very slight possibility it can occasionally happen.

International bidders please note postage set at £12.00 to send your item via international Royal mail airsure if  post is less i refund the difference
