Lithographs by

GLYYN BOYD HARTE

Limited Signed Edition 1977

Metro-Land was a documentary film written and narrated by John Betjeman and directed by Edward Mirzoeff, and first broadcast on the BBC in 1973. It celebrated suburban life in the area north-west of London that gre up in the early 20th century acround the Metropolitan Railway.

For sale is a very scarce book containing verses by the famous poet John Betjeman (1906-1984) and sixteen beautiful colour lithographs by Glynn Boyd Harte (1948-2003), one of the most brilliant and influential illustrators and painters to emerge from the 1970s

It is the 21st publication by Warren Editions (Jonathan and Phillida Gili), 28 Ifield Road, London. The lithographs were drawn on the plate by the artist and printed on T. H. Saunders mould-made paper at the Curwen Studio, London. The text is printed on Wiggins Teape Optimum and the binding is by the Kemp Hall Bindery, Oxford. The book was designed by Jonathan Gili in collaboration with the artist, and the edition is limited to 220 copies.

The copy for sale is number 74 and has been signed by both John Betjeman and Glynn Boyd Harte.

Published by Warren Editions in 1977. The book is bound in grey cloth covered boards with an illustration on the front board, and measures approx. 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" and is unpaginated. It is presented in a red cloth covered box with an embossed title on the front and gold titling on the side. There is also a small brochure detailing the forthcoming publication of this book.

The book is in nearly new condition and is tight and clean inside with no inscription other than the signatures and copy number.

The presentation box is also in nearly new condition.
