Pull handle Mk 1 MGB roadster, 5 bearing engine, overdrive, alloy bonnet, wire wheels.
One owner since 1969 and used as my everyday car until 1989. Greased every 1000miles and oil and filter changed every 5000 miles with Duckhams Q20/50
Fully restored in 1981 with new BLMC bodyshell, brake gear, clutch, springs, dampers, fuel tank, fuel pump. Bills available. Seats rebuilt in Connelly hide when restored and in excellent condition. Bodyshell was liberally treated with Waxoyl before it was assembled, especially in the vulnerable double skinned area above the rear wheel arches and the cill/castle panel box section; consequently there is no structural corrosion. 45000 miles on new shell with MOTs to support.
Paintwork started to craze due to faulty primer, so withdrawn from use in 1989 for a respray. This never happened and the car became a retirement project and stayed in a heated garage ever since. I will never do this now so it’s time to move it on to somebody who is prepared to put the time in.
Starts first time and runs sweetly with 80+psi oil pressure. Slight water leak on water pump gland, but radiator and hoses watertight.
Electrics in working order, but requires new battery.
Clutch works smoothly and overdrive works.
Hydraulic brakes work, but handbrake cable seized.
Comes with new hood and one new wire wheel and many other spares including gearbox and diff.
Although it can be seen running this is not a drive away car and will need a full bare metal respray and attention to many minor items to be expected as the result of being out of use for 23 years.
Cash on collection only please.

Due to many questions I will try and clarify a few points:
Car is tax exempt
VIN number G/HN3/58443
Engine number 12248
Replacement body shell is British Leyland (not Heritage) part number HZA 5545. i.e. wide tunnel, rubber bumpered, as Heritage shells were not available at the time of restoration.
There is no structural rust that would require welding, but there is some superficial rust, consistant with 45,000 miles use since restoration and 23 years storage, mainly on the front wings. There is no rust at the seams on top of the rear wings.
The new hood referred to is not the one in the photo, but is in the box, will be supplied with the car for fitting by the purchaser.
The car requires a new front bumper, but all other brightwork, replaced at restoration, was Waxoyl coated on laying up and is in good condition.
new hood, side window glasses and weather strips, suspension bushes, headlight rims, head gasket etc etc
Used, good condition: gearbox, differential, steering rack, antiroll bar, prop shaft, wiper motor, speedometer, fuel gauge etc etc.
All statements made regarding this vehicle are true to the best of my knowledge, but no guarantees are given or implied.
Car will only be released against cash for the full amount.
