Morris 16/6 Series 2
This is the big 6 model built in 1936.
The car was first registered in 1937 and I am only the 3rd owner in 76 years!
This is one rare car building approximately 2,400 between 1936 - 1938.
This is a Sliding head (sunroof) model which is identical to the 18.
Black body, Brown leather trim.
Engine is the straight 6 Morris QH 2062cc side valve with a single plate cork insert clutch and a 3 speed gearbox.
Original Chester registration number BFM 597.
Original buff log book shows the car to have been registered in Chester on 9.02.1937.
2nd owner bought the vehicle from the 1st keeper in 1981.
I have owned the vehicle since 24.01.11.
When the vehicle was bought from the 1st owner it was a barn find and had not been used for many years.
The 2nd owner had the engine rebuilt and carried out some minor bodywork repairs whilst keeping it running.
The car was finally laid up in storage in the mid 90s where it was left to deteriorate until I purchased the vehicle in 2011.
V5 present in my name and is obviously MOT and TAX exempt!
The fuel tank was drained, cleaned, repaired, sealed along with the chassis and re painted and all fuel lines cleaned resulting in the car starting 1st time on the button despite a leaking Carb and a faulty fuel pump. A new fuel pump was bought and the engine very smooth if a little rich. The fuel pump was seen to be leaking along with various water pipes. These were also replaced together with the Radiator being reconditioned.
The water pump was striped, cleaned and painted before putting back on. It still leaks and needs to be fully reconditioned!
The engine water ways was also cleaned through and flushed out through the block water jacket.
The carb has been removed and really needs cleaning/rebuilding with new gasket together with a new throttle control cable and accelerator cable.
Some of the old 1 1/4 marine ply floor was rotten so was replaced.
I have removed the offside front wing, rear wings and bumpers to assess condition with view of having welding/repair work done. The wings are repairable but the running boards would need to be copied.
The vehicle is complete minus its rear seat but I know someone with one and many parts and can pass his details on.
The vehicle is still in this condition and is being sold as a complete restoration projects.
There are lots of spare bits and lots of history and some old photos.
You will probably not find another like it and I have scoured the internet...and havn't since this time.
The vehicle is one big car and not to be confused with smaller vintage models by Morris or other manufactures of the time.
The car rolls and the gearbox, brakes, handbrake and clutch work.
The car is in Sandwich, Kent.
My vehicle can be viewed on U Tube when I uploaded 2 videos a couple of years ago. I think you would need to type in 1936 Morris start up? 1936 Morris 16 and or Morris big 6.
