Martin Baker Vampire Fighter Ejector Seat c1950 ~

An iconic ejection seat, produced by Martin Baker for the Vampire aircraft.

It has been professionally polished at vast expense (and I do mean vast) and is glowing with brilliance.

The seat is from a system designed to rescue the pilot or other crew of an aircraft (usually military) in an emergency.

The seat is loaded with all its original warning signs as well as the overhead ejector actuator.

Both sides have plates. One reads...

"Martin Patent Ejector Seat

British Patent No. 583257 640520

South Africa Patent No.2418-1945

Canada Patent No636022

Patents Pending in Other Dominions

And Foreign Countries"

The other side has become faded and worn from age, making it harder to read.

The engineering and design of these seats has made them a classic icon and they are perfect as games console or den seating. This is a genuine & unique piece of ejection Seat history.

In this condition, I have seen them for sale at £12,500 to £25,000.

~ de Havilland Vampire ~

The de Havilland DH.100 Vampire was a British jet fighter commissioned by the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. Following the Gloster Meteor, it was the second jet fighter to enter service with the RAF.

The Vampire served with many air forces worldwide, setting aviation firsts and records. Almost 3,300 Vampires were built, a quarter of them under licence in other countries. The Vampire design was also developed into the de Havilland Venom fighter-bomber as well as naval Sea Vampire variants.

~ Martin-Baker Aircraft Co. Ltd. ~

Martin-Baker Aircraft Co. Ltd. is the world's longest-established manufacturer of ejection seats and safety related equipment for aviation. Since the first live ejection test in 1946, as of 2012, a total of 7,402 lives have been saved by Martin-Baker ejection seats.

Martin-Baker supplies ejection seats for 93 air forces worldwide. Martin-Baker seats have been fitted into over 200 fixed-wing and rotary types with the most recent being the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II programme.

~ Dimensions ~

The chair has a height of 56 inches (142.25cm), a width of 18 inches (45.75cm) and a length of 36 inches (91.5cm). It weighs 42kg

~ Condition ~

Just beautiful. It is of course inert.

Your max bid should be the highest amount you're willing to pay for an item.
We keep your max bid amount a secret from the seller and other bidders.
Max bidding example:
If a current bid is £20 and your max bid is £30, we bid £21 for you.
If no one else bids, you win and pay £21.
However, if someone else places a bid for £35, you will be out bid and the new highest bid on the auction will be £31. You will need to increase your max bid to more than £35 to be the highest bidder.
