This kit has everything required in it to fit your Mk1 1.6 MX5 with a GT20 Garrett turbocharger. The turbo chosen for this kit will spool around 2000RPM which maintains the drivability of the MX5, we believe this is crucial because large laggy turbo would, in our opinion detract from the fun of the MX5.
In the kit:
Brand new GT20 Garrett turbo Stainless tubular exhaust manifold Turbo oil feed and return lines and fittings Front Mount Intercooler Stainless pipework to fit the intercooler Brackets to fit intercooler Exhaust adapter to fit the standard exhaust Water feed and return lines inc. required adapters All gaskets and bolts required Performance air filter Crankcase breather filter
This kit can easily be fitted in a weekend by any competent DIY mechanic. If you are happy servicing your own vehicle and fitting an exhaust you should have no problems installing this kit.
We have designed this kit to be easily upgradable and already have Stage 2 and Stage 3 in development.
Once fitted you will need to decide how you are going to control the fueling and timing on the engine. The simplest way is to fit a rising rate fuel pressure regulator and retarding the timing however while people have reported excellent reliability using this method we feel that using an aftermarket ECU, for example Megasquirt or DTA, is a much safer alternative. We are currently working on a plug and play ECU which will come complete with the map we are using on the development vehicle. There is lots of information on the various ways, just do a Google search for 'MX5 turbo ECU'.
We will have ECU solutions available by the end of April.
With this kit you can expect around 175BHP.
Currently we expect the Stage 3 kit to allow upto 300BHP, development of this kit will be complete by the end of May 2012.
