FEBRUARY 2020 ALERT: Problems: MioGlobal (the company that used to manufacture the Alpha Mio series, Fuse, etc) ceased production of hardware (including watches) in 2017. To complicate matters more, the all important native app (Mio Go) has also been withdrawn from Apple's (iPhone) App Store and Google's (Android) Play Store. In the App Store, it has been replaced by an app (Mio Training Insights) which clearly states, " We regret to inform you that all legacy products (Mio Alpha, Mio Fuse, Mio Slice etc" are no longer manufactured or sold by Mio. The Mio brand is now re-launched under new management (Mio Labs Inc.) and we no longer provide support for these legacy products" (see photos). Therefore, one can NOT set their personal training zones anymore which was the biggest asset of the watch: a highly visible LED would flash in a specific colour (blue, green, red) to at a glance check their training zone one and adjust effort accordingly. To set the training zones one can only do so via its native app (MioGo). But just like the Alpha, Fuse etc "vintage models", the MioGo app has also been discontinued and is NOT downloadable / available anymore. It's not only the training zones that are rendered inaccessible. - The Alpha 2 had an activity tracker. It produced data (e.g. calories burnt, steps and pace for the Fuse) which can no more be selected, transferred and saved to the Health app (e.g. for iPhones) per day, week etc as this requires permissions granted only via the Mio Go app - which is no more available. - And with the Fuse, you CANNOT even set the time without the MioGo app. Again, this app is no more available to obtain. Strengths: I have both the Alpha Mio 2 and the Fuse (photos). Found them both to be pretty accurate when it comes to measuring heart rate. Most of the time. And the watch would stay in sync with the phone, most of the time. Conclusion: As the app has been discontinued, it's questionable (copyright issues) whether other app developers will have a reason to include functional support (setting the time, defining training-zones (etc etc) support for a discontinued product since 2017. Before purchasing, check the app stores: can you find the all important MioGo app? (See photos)Read full review

Doesn't give consistently accurate heart rate readings for heavy weight workouts. You think you're ok, giggle the watch and press it hard into your skin and the reading shoots up to what it really is. Works ok for aerobic exercise, but that's not what I bought it for, I've tried tightening the strap, different positions on the arm, and wearing it on the other arm, nothing improves it. It's still usable in that after the set, you mess about finding your actual heart rate, then adjust the reps or weight accordingly to keep your max heart rate down, but wouldn't it be great if the watch just worked properly?
