1963 Morris Minor Traveller:
Up for sale is my 1963 Morris Traveller in Rose Taupe. I was left this car by my Grandad when he died in 2002 and it was his absolute pride and joy, he used to drive it to and from the golf club everyday and he always kept it garaged when not in use. I have loved owning it and have looked after it as best as I can but unfortunately due to new family members and work commitments it is just not possible for me to keep her anymore. Strangely a couple of weeks prior to my Grandad passing away the original engine 'blew up' so before it was passed on to me my Nan (bless her) had a completely recondintioned engine fitted. This was done at a specialist Morris garage in High Wycombe and I have reciepts showing exactly what work was done. I have also spent a small fortune maintaining this car, it has recently had a fair bit of welding done underneath all professionally done and painted, the brakes where all replaced about 500 miles ago (and will in fact need adjusting at about 41000 miles) and it has been regularly serviced. I am a carpenter so have kept the woodwork in good shape and (as you can see from the pictures) it is pretty much as good as new, there is NO rot anywhere. The car starts on the button everytime and sounds sweet as a nut. The bodywork is in ok condition, there are quite a few rust patches and the paintwork on the front roof panel has 'crazed', I have tried to show this in the pictures. Some of the chrome work will also require replacing/re-chroming if you are looking to get this car to 'show condition'. That said however the overall appearence of this car is great (especially when you consider it is nearly 50 years old) and you will get ALOT of admiring looks and comments whilst driving around in it. The only prob I have had is when you park it in a car park you can sometimes come back to find an impenetrable ring of old men admiring it and telling you about 'how they travelled all over Europe in one of these with the whole family, all their luggage.... and the dog!' so shopping trips can take some time!!
The interior is ok, a bit tatty in places, it is all original, even the seatbelts are the ones it left the factory with. The only 'non original' thing on the car is the interior roof lining has been replaced with tongue and groove as the original lining was looking pretty grubby and tired, I think it looks great but if it is not to your taste it is easily removed.
The car is MOTd and Taxed (tax exempt) until the end of March 2012
I am going to be really sad to see the Morris go but I would much prefer to know she is being used and loved than to have her locked away gathering dust....these cars LOVE to be driven!
For sentimental reasons I have transferred the original number plate onto my family vehicle and I plan to keep that as a memorial to my Grandad so unfortunately all the windows have the wrong number plate etched into them, The plate pictured is the new plate, a small issue but better pointed out now I feel.
Please if you have any questions or if you would like to view the car (evenings and weekends only I'm afraid) please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Sensible offers only please, thanks for looking.
