Murano Blue and Uranium Sommerso Art Bowl circa 1950s Undoubtedly a piece of Murano from the 1950s, an art piece with prongs, three of which point upward and three which point downwards, standing on a six pointed base. The overall colour is blue(in the top layer of glass), starting at the tips as a pale blue, which as you move towards the centre of bowl gradually changes to a cobalt, deep blue shade. The uranium sommerso, as you can see in the pictures, shows as a pale yellow on the underside of the blue, you can see it most clearly at the base where it appears as a green halo from the underside, but can also see it in the clear glass at the end of the prongs. You can see in the u.v pictures particularly, how finely the artisan has applied his skill, quite beautifully. The bowl is in a damage free condition, barely a sign of wear, has been cared for, I mention for accuracy there is a small protrusion(about the size of a grain of rice) on top surface, most likely an air bubble, but it is smooth and stable. Measures approx.10cm at tallest and 20cm at widest diameter, weight is 0.750kg unpacked. Please check out my other auctions. |
