The ASUS M5A78L-M is an AM3 motherboard that offers power, protection, and reliability. It features a core unlocker which unlocks extra cores designed to give a PC a performance boost. The ASUS motherboard also features EPU which conserves energy by moderating power usage for PC components. The ASUS motherboard offers protection with its anti-surge protection and its Crashfree BIOS 3. The anti-surge protection prevents surges from spreading by actively cutting off the overvoltage supply to protect the system. The Crashfree BIOS 3 in the AM3 motherboard allows data to be restored from corrupted BIOS data by using a USB flash disk containing the BIOS file. The ASUS motherboard features eight-channel high-definition audio which automatically detects and identifies the type of connections that are plugged into the audio I/O jacks. It notifies the user of incorrect connection, making it easy to determine which jacks are line-in and line-out.
