I finally decided to try a 460cc driver again since in the past Ive never liked how light and empty some of them feel. After reading lots of driver reviews and looking at some local golf shops I liked the Hi-Bore XL because of the head design so you can feel the mass of the club which feels more solid at contact. This club has a large sweet spot (or full face performance) so you can tee the ball high or low if that's your preference and the ball will still jump off the clubface. This inspires confidence so I can swing a little faster and not worry about hitting on the toe or heel as much. Also, the club lends to a low takeaway so my backswing isn't as steep, so I can try to avoid some of the outside to in downswing that creates a fade. I also went with the stiff Fujikura stiff red shaft. Having lower torque, a heavier shaft, and a stiff tip give me better feel at contact as well so I still get a decent shot on mishits because the club covers it up well. I would recommend going with this club to most golfers who want some newer technology and are having a hard time narrowing down to vast selection and various clubhead designs. Also, it is probably a good idea to get fitting with the right loft and shaft since there are lots of options, and it will make a difference. Hope this helps.Read full review
great club. the sound is crisp and not like an aluminum bat. Very accurate club, but I can only work the ball very little to either side with it. I hit this club a few yards shorter than the Nike 5900 sumo2 but I'll take fairway and shorter any day. I highly recommend the red shaft as it has a high kick point and the club head doesn't feel as whippy. ( my normal swing speed is around 105) Make sure to note the weight of the shaft I have seen a few of these with up to 75 Grams. when you are used to 55,this could feel different causing some miss timing. I am a person who gets a new driver about every year and every year I keep going back to this club. I would recommend it to any one expect people who really like to work the ball with fades and draws
The Hibore XL (Conforming version) is a powerful weapon against long par 5's. The scope crown design of the Hibore produces superior club head speed to other designs. I bought this driver head instead of a full driver to be able to customize my shaft selection to maximize it's performance. The Stock Fit on Red and Gold options are very good shafts. The red is a stiff tip design and will produce a more penetrating, lower ball flight. If you have never hit one of these try it, you will be amazed!
The best driver I have hit since the 510TP came out. Mid launch, low spin equals good drives that get up quick, flatten out, and then ROLL out. The FFP (full face performance) is legit, as anything but severe heel strikes still have admirable results. I've also found the club hard to hit a snap-hook which was my nemesis for the last few years. Factory shaft is also servicable - there is no real need to pull the shaft before the club is hit to put a new one in it. All in all, 5 stars here.
This driver head is sooo solid! I matched it with a Graphite Design Aura Red X Flex 70g shaft. This combo has produced a low spin, high flying, penetrating ball flight. The open face on the Tour version has cured my snaps, and the sound at impact is great. Surprisingly very pleasing to look at. It is definitely a Tour head, and will let you know when you miss it a little. Overall I am very happy with my purchase!
